TS makes some good points. Look at any credible pound for pound all time great list. I bet there are very few undefeated fighters. Losses in boxing are overpenalized by fans and promoters and its the reason why you have guys like Vanes trying to protect there zeros in hopes of landing that one big money fight.
BUT...you say undefeated records need constant verification. When you perform that verification on the records of Mayweather and Ward, their undefeated records should pass the "test". Mayweather has defeated 4 fighters who were ranked on the pound for pound list at the time he fought them. Ward cleaned out the 168 pound division with sheer ease. Now he's fighting the #10 ranked pound for pound fighter in the world.
If that doesn't pass your verification test, I don't know what will.
