I kicked myself in the ass for believing the Bernard Hopkins hype once again.

He has never put in a masterful performance other then the fight with Tito which He did end with a knockout.

So even if you feel Taylor won it, which I don't , he won it by losing the last six rounds (with the exception of the 11th), getting hurt twice, never hurting his opponent and far more tired than Bernard at the end. He proved that his power is overated, that his jab is overated, that he is a sucker for a right hand and had to hang on for his life to survive a forty year old champ who without question has his best days behind him.

Sounds like a legend in the making. Seems to me HBO is hoping for it's next Gatti.

Hah. Find one post on this entire website where I said Bernard would KO Taylor. The closest I came was saying I hope B-Hop knocks him out. If you want to debate, that's fine (despite your lack of debating skills). But don't resort to lies.

Can anybody honestly say after watching him fight Hopkins twicer that they were impressed? They might not be depressed, and have hopes, but honestly impressed?

Also, Nard talking about KO'ing Taylor is BS anyways. So a fighter made a claim prefight... and people bought it.... whose fault is that? I didn't believe for a second Hopkins would be ultra aggressive and manage to KO him unless it was a pure lucky counter punch that landed right on the button.
He is a very humble, quiet man..always has been. If he critized himself after the fights it's just something he does cause he knows he can do better.
I was impressed with him yes, cause he did what nobody has done in 10 yrs..I dont care how he did it. Both were defensive fights, which he won. Impressive to me..nobody else could do it.

I admire Taylors courage, focus and determination. I am not knocking him at all as a man. I am saying that when the major marketing en****** of boxing want a new draw, they make every effort they can to back it. It's been said many times over that boxing needs a new star, that we are experiencing a changing of the guard and that Bernard fit no one's most liked list.

Please name one champ that got screwed the way Bernard did? One champ.

All you Taylor fans need to understand that (most of) these criticisms have NOTHING to do with Hopkins or any opponent from Taylor's past..

they have to do with Taylor's potential as a champion and the fact that time is a factor now that he's the #1 guy in the division. if he wants to remain successful, he needs to continue to grow, mature, and tweak all those little holes in his style. End of argument (for me at least).

He outlanded Taylor in both fights. He had Taylor hurt on numerous occasions on both fights.

the fact remains that taylor won two close...VERY CLOSE fights. Nobody got screwed. GEtting screwed is if Nard won without a doubt,by a landslide, and didnt get the nod. He didnt do that. I've seen robberies aplenty, and neither fight was one of them. You cant finally decide in rd. 6 or 7 that you might had better fight, after all. There are too many rd's before that that he lost. Simple math, and the 10 pt must system.

But Taylor did not do enough to win. He looked really amatuerish at times. He got confused. It really showed that he had been fed on a diet of overmatched smaller opponents (his one legit contender he faced was an out of retirement old Joppy). He was extreamly lucky he was facing a 40 year old man who just couldn't pull the trigger like he used to. Two years ago Taylor would have been knocked out.

I don't just count rounds on punches thrown. I count a lot for work-rate and punch output, but also a lot for controlling the ring and clean punching.

im not bitter about hopkins losing, im bitter about taylor winning. taylor has had less than 30 fights, and a LOT less impressive wins. where was the fire? where was the desperate passion to win? where was the digging-down-deep-to-find-what-it-takes-to-win-desire? and where the **** are the noteworthy opponents he beat to deserve a title shot?!

taylor's a product. and much like all the other products before him, he'll have a short run, he'll be exposed (time and time again), and he'll fall from the top of the hill to the bottom of the valley. mark... my... words...
