Mayweather’s PPV numbers: Gatti 365k, Judah 375k, Baldomir 325k, De La Hoya 2.4mill, Hatton 920k, Marquez 1 million, Mosley 1.4 million, Ortiz 1.25 million, Cotto 1.5 million. Floyd’s total is 9,535,000 PPV’s sold.

    Pacquiao’s PPV numbers: Morales 1 350k, Morales2 360k, Morales3 350k, Solis 200k, Barerra2 350k, Marquez2 400k, Diaz 250k, De La Hoya 1.25 mill, Hatton 850k, Cotto 1.25 million, Clottey 700k, Margarito 1.15 million, Mosley 1.3 million, Marquez 1.45 million. Manny’s total is 10,210,000.
I tried to do my best and get the most accurate numbers. I couldn’t get Manny’s numbers for his fight with Oscar Larios because the PPV was in the Phillipines. Floyd has sold about 9.5 mill in 9 PPV appearances. Manny has about 10.2 mill in 14 PPV appearances. Manny has sold MORE PPV while Floyd averages more per appearance.

Manny has fought some less promoted, lesser name guys on smaller PPV shows. Where as Floyd who is marketed better ,fought bigger more recognizable names on PPV. Floyd also grosses more in his PPV because he is smart enough to charge more. Manny has done much larger live audiences because of his fights in Texas, the stadium is much larger. Floyd usually fights in Vegas where the venue holds around 16k. Depending who I talked to both guys bring heavy money from the bettors. Some say Manny brings in the Asian contingent to the casinos, some say Floyd brings in the urban ballers. I don’t have an accurate number so let’s call that a push. I also couldn’t get a gauge on the Asian market because it’s too extensive.

So there it is another myth that Floyd has sold more PPV than Manny. Floyd has done a higher average on his PPV and he has outsold with most of their common opponents. The real noticeable difference in that department is the De La Hoya fight. But we have to be honest Floyd was the clear B side and had never done over 400k, that was the first 24/7 in which Floyd did a great job in promoting and it was the before the recession. I’m trying to be fair and factor everything in. Manny has only outsold Floyd against Marquez as far as common opponents, 1.45 mill to 1 mill. Against Cotto, Floyd sold 1.5 million and Manny sold 1.25 million. But Floyd’s fight was on Cinco De Mayo and a Mexican star in Alvarez supported the show. Alvarez was paid a whopping sum to be on an undercard, a valid point in which any fair arbitrator has to factor in.

When Marvin Hagler and Ray Leonard went to the negotiation tables. Leonard asked for a 12 round fight. Hagler wanted 15 although he was regularly fighting in 12 rounders by that time. Look at his boxrec and attack another false myth. Leonard asked for 10 oz gloves. 10 oz gloves were common also back then for fighters over 147lbs. Now because Hagler conceded to these things, despite Leonard being the bigger star slightly, Hagler made more money. Not only did he get a larger guarantee, but he got more Closed Circuit money. Hagler was allowed to take 48 states of the Closed Circuit while Leonard received the proceeds from DC and Maryland his home states.

In Floyd’s case if Manny is conceding to extra random blood testing, then why can’t Manny at least get a 50/50 cut when everything is so close as far as star power? Tell me was I bias or fair. Tell me did I touch all pertinent facts and state a reasonable solution. Last but not least Manny is pretty much equal to Floyd as far as star power in the US. He has more endorsements and they are both recognizable faces. Floyd is from the US. Manny towers over Floyd in the Philippines and Asian market which will also generate a large sum of money from this fight. Asians actually make up the world’s largest population. If there was ever a 50/50 fight or 45/45..10 for winner, this is it.

They are comparing numbers in order to justify who's on top and gets what but my point is what does it matter because fight won't happen anyway.

I don't know, I never said he was the true #1 ppv draw nor did I allude to it.

Floyd got 2 record breaking #'s fights under his belt and Manny don't.

Good cause they shouldn't be trying to compete or match numbers anyway. Arum was clear 50/50 or 45/45 + 10% to the winner. PBF was clear no 50/50. Its clear neither side is budging so keep it moving like a traffic cop.

Really great post! As far as I am concerned it didn't sound biased at all, just researched fact. Thanks for taking the time to do the research and I hope most people recognize the facts and stop being so gullible.

The Floyd nuthuggers on here won't touch this post. Reason and intellect are not their game. They're just here to regurgitate the Mayweather propaganda.

With the help of Mexicans because we all know Floyd fight on Mexican Hoilday with Mexicans on his undercards just to boost his PPV sales. I bet his next fight is on Cinco De Mayo with a well know Mexican star on his undercard.

Manny has fought on Cinco de Mayo as well and in fact Arum was pissed PBF got that date for this year and not them. So you saying all that to say what exactly? If it ain't that both PBF and Manny fight on Cinco de Mayo to boost sales then you playing yourself.

wtf are you talking about? other than cotto vs pac & floyd,

cotto has always been a headliner.

Same with canelo who is being groomed as the next cash cow. Just because they dont do ppv, doesnt mean they dont headline.
