Because it actually involves intelligence and technique rather than brute force and steroids?

joe calzaghe's win over bernard hopkins, was a legit win...nobody who has beaten bernard hopkins, has ever looked good doing it, because of bernard hopkins version of philly style fighting, and joe calzaghe's pimpslap style of fighting, which doesn't get much respect

is that literally all you do with your time?

no, because it's largely a middle class game and that's generally not where the best athletes come from

it's also looked upon as a game for children and girls
i'm not saying that's right or wrong, but that's how it's viewed.

the best athletes in the states generally play two sports
        basketball and football

you have some great all around athletes in the other two major sports (baseball and hockey,) but those are generally more skill based games

if you can run fast, and jump high and have great height and length you can be good at basketball
same with football. if you are big, strong, and fast, you can excel

You had two guys who were known for spoiling their opponent's boxing. So, of course the fight was a mess. It's popular to hate on Calzaghe because he doesn't represent the boxing stereotype, just as it was popular to call Hopkins "old" even when he was going on a tear. It's unfortunate that people will try to define Joe's career by the "appearance -only" punches he threw in the Hopkins fight because he had really tore some guys up in the past. I personally don't think there was a clear winner in either direction, though giving Joe the win probably sat a little easier because of his workrate .

This is correct. I played soccer a LOT on the playground as a kid. When I got into high school, none of the guys played anymore. Probably because you couldn't see it on TV, so it had no heroism or bravado. I am still fond of it but no one I know is interested in watching it, save for some of the people from other countries that I have worked with.
What that has to do with Calzaghe, I don't know. ..

The states were quite late catching up with soccer. In the rest of the world, soccer isnt seen as a game for girls and children.

Soccer is at least a global sport were the continents can compete. unlike basketball, and american football.

Basically. It's funny to hear others misconceptions of American sports. Soccer is a F level sport in America at best.

because joe fought them when they were in their 40s not to mention he got his slappy arse knocked down in both fights.

The fact that Calzaghe spent his entire career hiding out at 168 while bhop & roy were one division below & above him only for him to come out of hiding after they were both in their 40s not to mention calzaghe retiring after his longtime division finally became loaded with great competition...

actually makes calzaghe one of the biggest cherry pickers in the history of the sport.
