Iron Mike all the way! As a kid, some friends and I used to be allowed into a local billiards were they used to show all Tyson fights. Before seeing any of his fights, I had heard in passing about him but the first time I saw him live was against Marvis Frazier. He completely annihilated him; I was hooked on boxing after that.
Definitely one of the greatest fight I've seen also, but I always
said Vargas should of waited, he fought Trinidad to soon and he wasn't the
same afterwards, but he showed incredible heart in that fight
Maybe. I think if Vargas would've had a better defense he would've been fine against Trinidad. I wish he would've learned to keep his damn hands up and block some punches instead of trying to slip them all with head movement.
I'm enjoying reading all the different reasons why people became interested in boxing and all the different fighters from different eras that made it happen =D
Roy Jones Jr. made me a fan and Pernell Whitaker made me love boxing. At a young age I preferred skill over hype and KO's. I was never really a big Heavyweight fan... the lightweight to middleweight divisions were and still are my favorite. They showcased more skills, threw more punches, and the best fighters were fighting the best fighters in the lower divisions at that time. De La Hoya, Trinidad, Sweat Pea, Mosley, Chavez Sr, Ike Quartey were all a big part me loving the sport as a kid.
A mix between James Toney and the Corrales-Castillo fight.
I had seen Toney fight like twice at cruiser weight, I loved his toughness his chin, and his fighting style, he was walking through guys wih ease.
Then one day I was bored and since there was nothing on TV I changed it to boxing, it happened to be Castillo-Corrales 1.
I had no idea that the Toney fights were replays I thought they were live, same with the Castillo-Corrales fight. Anyways I managed to see one of the greatest fights of all time and instantly became a fan of boxing and started watching it regularly, been a fan since '05.
That fight still gives me chills watching Corrales win at the end, just a crazy fight.
