dont say that because it's not true at all

boxers in the 50's were better than they are today

that much of his post is true

to say that they are all better than every boxer today is just as untrue as you thinking that every boxer today is better than one from the 50's

boxing and baseball were the biggest sports in the country in the 50's
you dont think the fighters were better?
    get real

just think how good boxing would be today if it was the biggest sport in the country, with all of the great american athletes (most of them HW,) moving to boxing

    it would be unreal.

that's how it was in the 50's. the talented men went into boxing and baseball and virtually nowhere else.

    maybe the army, lol

freakish speed. he had power, too.
Patterson is very underrated. Ali said he was the best "boxer" he ever fought, one of my favorite fighters. Was a really good HW and one of the top in his era until Liston and Ali came around.

      Guy had no chin though.

i think he's rated right where he should be, he just doesnt get talked about enough

the guy was lightening fast and his left hook is one of the best i've ever seen

light chin and very small for an h dub

if he was at 175 or 200 (CW) he would be unstoppable, but the money and glory was (and still is,) at HW

Jim Brown wouldnt start over Adrian Peterson in todays NFL. But a guy like Jerry Rice would still be uncoverable WR. So thats not a fair statement. Some guys would be average , some guys would dominate.

And to say Judah having fast hands in his era isnt note worthy makes no sense. Were talking about handspeed. Not resume or overall skill set.

Simply hand speed. That has nothing to do with how prestigious an era is. Every era has fast hands.

Hell who has faster hands than Gary Russell Jr right now???

No one. So that means he doesnt get credit? Look I love boxng history but sometimes people go too far this era is fine. Theyre are SEVERAL ATG's, several hall of famers, ad weve had several great fights.

Zab Judah had LIGHTNING fast hands. That cant be debated.
Actually it doesn't apply. Not at all. You can't compare any other sport with boxing because boxing has been on the steady decline, whereas football, basketball, and the rest of the main stream sports have been on the rise. So I stopped reading here, since you don't know what you are talking about.

fastest hands ever: (in no particular order)
              Meldrick Taylor
              Sugar Ray Leonard
              Hector Camacho Sr
              Manny Pacquiao
Amir Khan should also be on this list when I think about it.
Mike Tyson, Floyd Patterson (both are ridiculous fast for Heavyweights)

                Again,

I think its time for you to get real.

You follow the NBA??? Drop LeBron James in the 50's and he would dominate the same way he does now.

The nostalgia on this site goes way too far sometimes. Roy was a freak of nature.

He couldnt compete with SRR, Moore, or a Gene Fullmer?? Stop.

not to mention those sports are "improving" because men are becoming bigger and stronger

                  boxing has weight classes

any WW is always going to have to weigh 147 lbs at some point (that day or the day before) and he's going to have serious issues with ray robinson

in 2000 years the centers on a basketball team might be 10 feet tall and have 120 inch reaches for all i know.

It's easy to forget and glad that brought this up. I've seen many of his films back then and though Ali beat him, he is still one of the best.
