Who fought better opponents Jones or hopkins

Both are great. Jones was athletically gifted and a treat to watch Hopkins was an all around tough boxing technician who was never knocked out. Who fought the better fighters? I have to give the edge to Hopkins because of what he's done in the last 5 years.

I'm sure Jones would have done the same if he was capable. He did kind of job the fans by not fighting Calzaghe or Michalczewski instead of that bum of the month thing he had going on HBO

    Hopkins --------------- Jones

    Chad Dawson 2x --------------- Hopkins 2x
    Glen Johnson--------------- James Toney
Kelly Pavlik --------------- Antonio Tarver 3x
    Winky Wright --------------- Glen Johnson
    William Joppy --------------- John Ruiz
    Felix Trinidad --------------- Montell griffin
    Simon Brown --------------- Virgil Hill
Jermain Taylor 2x --------------- Joe Calzaghe
Jean Pascal 2x --------------- Felix Trinidad
    Roy Jones 2x
    Joe Calzaghe
    Kieth Holmes
    Oscar delahoya
    Antonio Tarver

I'm only listing name opponents. I know there are other solid fighters both fought. I refuse to list Mccallum because at 40 and 175 he was a complete shell of his 154 pound self. that fight was a joke. Same with Trinidad. Also Hopkins was 15-20 years older then a lot of those names he fought

Jones. I prefer Hopkins but Jones had a consistent and higher quality of opposition in comparison.

Hopkins however seemed to ruin a lot of his opponents, which wasn't the case with Jones.

Example, Joe Lipsey. 25-0 until Hopkins knocked him out. He never fought again.

That win would mean more if he'd gone on and succeeded like some of Jones' wins.

Jones fought hopkins, Toney, Hill, Ruiz, Tarver, Johnson and Calzaghe.

Hopkins fought Jones 2x, Trinidad, Glen Johnson, Delahoya, Jermain Taylor 2x, Tarver, Winky Wright, Pavlik, Calzaghe, Pascal 2x, and Dawson.

Don't see how you could give Roy the edge. I would love to have seen Hopkins Toney but he ate himself out of the middleweight division quickly.

Jones did early in career, Hopkins fought better at the end (and beat most).

Jones also fought Trinidad, McCallum, Pazienza, Malinga, Griffin x2.

Curiously you left out that Jones fought Hopkins twice as well but listed Jones for Hopkins twice. Also Tarver should be three times.

Why ask the question if you can't see why someone would choose Roy?

By the time Hopkins was noteworthy at middleweight, Toney had moved up to super-middle...

                  Definitely Jones.

But it's unfair to say Hopkins does it ugly. Maybe recently, but did you see the Pavlik fight? He outfought his much younger opponent, and did it cleanly

                  He even showboated

i didnt list mccalum or trinidad because that were washed especially mccalum. Pazienzai maligna and griffin are not notable in my opinon. If they are then Joppy Holmes and Jackson are too. Leaving out the 2x for Jones was simple over site. I ask because I want others opinions. My mind is made up. Hopkins fought more notable opponents by at least 4. That's a fact. I think anyone who picks Jones just likes him better.
