Resumes: Mayweather, Pacquiao, Marquez, and Cotto.

This isn't to compare resumes of these fighters, as that would be a 1,000 page thread no doubt. There's just something interesting about each guys resume......how many fighters each beat that were in the Top 10 for that division at that time. It's interesting.

Miguel Cotto: 7 fighters in the Top 10
-DeMarcus Corley (Top 10 JWW), Carlos Quintana (Top 10 WW), Oktay Urkal (Top 10 WW), Zab Judah (Top 10 WW), Shane Mosley (#3 WW), Joshua Clottey (Top 10 WW), and Yuri Foreman (WBA SWW champ/Top 10 SWW).

Juan Manuel Marquez: 8 fighters in the Top 10.
-Manuel Medina (#3 FW), Derrick Gainer (Top 10 FW), Victor Polo (Top 10 FW), Marco Antonio Barrera (WBC SFW champ/#2 SFW), Rocky Juarez (Top 10 SFW), Joel Casamayor (RING LW champ), Juan Diaz (#3 LW), and Michael Katsidis (#2 LW).

Marquez should arguably have wins over Norwood, Pacquiao, and John though, which would make his total 11.

Manny Pacquiao: 11 fighters in the Top 10.
-Chatchai Sasakul (RING FLW champ), Lehlo Ledwaba (IBF SBW champ/#3 SBW), Marco Antonio Barrera (RING FW champ), Erik Morales (#2 SFW), Marco Antonio Barrera (Top 10 SFW), Juan Manuel Marquez (WBC SFW champ/#2 SFW), David Diaz (WBC LW champ/#2 LW), Ricky Hatton (RING JWW champ), Miguel Cotto (WBO WW champ/#2 WW), Joshua Clottey (Top 10 WW), and Shane Mosley (Top 10 WW).

Floyd Mayweather: 15 fighters in the Top 10.
-Genaro Hernandez (RING/WBC SFW champ), Angel Manfredy (#1 SFW), Gregorio Vargas (Top 10 SFW), Diego Corrales (#1 SFW), Jesus Chavez (Top 10 SFW), Jose Luis Castillo (WBC LW champ/#1 LW), Victoriano Sosa (Top 10 LW), DeMarcus Corley (Top 10 JWW), Arturo Gatti (WBC JWW champ/#1 JWW), Zab Judah (IBF WW champ/Top 10 WW), Carlos Baldomir (WBC/RING WW champ), Oscar De La Hoya (WBC SWW champ/Top 10 SWW), Shane Mosley (WBA WW champ/#2 WW), Victor Ortiz (WBC WW champ/#2 WW), and Miguel Cotto (WBA SWW champ/#1 SWW).

    Does this surprise anyone?????

Note: This is RING rankings, not sanctioning body rankings, as each guy would have a lot more obviously.

People say Cotto is a sure fire HOF fighter, and I agree. But even Jose Luis Castillo, who most say is borderline/might be in someday, beat 6 fighters that were Top 10 during his career.

He beat Stevie Johnston (WBC LW champ/#1 LW), Cesar Bazan (Top 10 LW), Juan Lazcano (# 1 LW), Joel Casamayor (Top 10 LW), Julio Diaz (Top 10 LW), and Diego Corrales (#1 LW).

I'll take Castillo beating Johnston-Bazan-Lazcano-Casamayor-Diaz-Corrales at the very least equal or a bit ahead of Cotto's 6 Top 10 guys.

I believe Quintana was ranked 10 at the time at WW after he beat one of the top prospects at the time Joel Julio.

Torres was undefeated and became a champion after that but was not top 10 but I think Quintana was and let's not forget Cotto beat an undefeated Paulie Maliggnagi who is now the WBA WW Champion and a Champion in two weight classes. I think the best way to look at this guys resume is to look at how many champions or former world champions the beat.

Urkal was Top 10 at WW when Cotto fought him, i don't believe Quintana was. I never saw Quintana in the Top 10 until he beat Paul Williams in an upset, and that was the last time he was. Torres, no he wasn't. He was unproven as hell at that time, hadn't done anything. Torres wasn't until 2006 when he won that vacant title.

I thought Carlos Hernandez was when Floyd fought him, but he wasn't until a year or two later when he won a title at 130.
