Watch it again. He may of been heating up but he wasn't that hot in that round. See, I didn't think Cotto won the 7th though. I guess it doesn't matter though since we all basically say 3 or 4 rounds.Comment

no doubt Cotto and his Trainer has a excellent gameplan despite losing
but not many can carry out that game plan because a lot of these other fighters SUCK at fighting inside nor do they go to the body much
I always felt Timothy Bradley has the style to beat Mayweather and after the fight with Cotto, I am even more confident that he does because Bradley is a beast fighting inside, he is strong physically strong enough to push Mayweather around like Cotto did, he is much faster then Cotto and has EXCELLENT STAMINA and he also has a good Jab...only thing is that he doesn't hit harder then Cotto which could be a problem
but Khan, Pacquiao, Martinez...they don't apply the type of pressure that Cotto does and they can't fight inside AT ALL, they are outside fighters who need space to use their speed and get off punches, Mayweather would love for either of them to try to fight him inside, he would DESTROY all 3 of them inside EASILY
The most effective style is a RUGGED STYLE, like Hatton in the first 5-6 Rounds, like Castillo, like Cotto, even Emmanuel Burton got rugged with him but with more of a slick styleLast edited by sicko; 05-07-2012, 10:27 AM.Comment

Remember when Floyd was mocking Cotto's stance in the gym? With Miguel's hand placement?
Well, I think Floyd has more respect for that now, because that high guard, with the bigger gloves than Floyd is used to, makes Cotto hard to hit when he is in his guard.
Also, that is why Floyd didn't want those gloves. not for the added power of the 8 oz gloves... but because you can use the Winky defense with the big gloves and there is no opening up the middle.
Floyd clearly knew this, and he was throwing that wide, looping right to Cotto's ear right from the opening bell.
PROPS TO PEDRO DIAZ FOR IMPROVING MIGUEL'S DEFENSE.Comment

Cotto was Tough but proved Nothing. Floyd Still Outalnded him 179-106,was more active,Showed better Defense, and Landed the Cleaner Blows almost Stopping Cotto in the 12th. Compubox had Cotto Outlanding Floyd in 1 ROUND! 1 of 12 ROUNDS! I had Cotto winning 3 Rounds,i could see 4 but thats it. 116-112,117-111,118,110 are all fair and close to reality. SO JUST STOP THE COTTO WON OR IT WAS CLOSER. He clearly didnt and it clearly wasnt.Comment

After rewatching the Fight, i thought Cotto got 4 rounds. Mayweather clearly won the fight but i will agree that Cotto earned the right not to be called a Jotto by me anymore. My only Problem with Cotto was the fact that he let the 35 year old defensive wizard OutPunch him nearly every round. Once again i think Cotto's Stamina got the best of him as he was clearly pacing himself instead of Laying it all on the Line against one of the Greatest of All Time. Wouldnt be surprised if they had a rematch as neither fighter really has an option besides PacMan and i dont think Cotto or Mayweather wants to tangle with the Filipino after their grueling affair.
As far as cotto-may, I would like to see a rematch. Not because i thnk the result would be different, but it would be another great match. Both have a better idea of eachother, and would do things slightly different. It would be another great match, and a great paycheck for both.Comment

He was able to land the right hook throughout the fight, with success here and there, but only because miguel effectively took away his lead rights/pull counters. Its a give and take, the right hook was there because the lead right wasnt. I think i would rather be hit by a right hook from mayweather than a lead right from mayweather, those are brutal.
It seemed that way considering he was throwing it from the first round. onwards.Comment

ANOTHER THING:
Cotto is just a straight ****-diesel, strong muthafvkka. This is about the 4th fighter that he just hoisted in the air no problem. When he lifted Floyd, it was so effortless.
And I noticed that Miguel looked really good on the rope-climbing drill. No legs!Last edited by Gino Ros; 05-07-2012, 10:28 AM.Comment

The punch that Corley landed was a shot Floyd didn't see.Comment
