Chavez claims Canelo is lying about his age

Most mexican fighters lie about there age when starting boxing and it sticks with them throughout there career. Look at Barrera He had his first professional fight at the age of 15 (he lied about his age saying he was 17) knocking out his opponent within two rounds. Barrera fought five more times, beating all his opponents before his age was discovered.

I would not be surprised if Canelo did what Barrera did and JCC's heard the rumors or found documents of Canelo lying about his age. Canelo appears to legitimately be 21; I'd be surprised if it were proven to be otherwise. Promoters aren't MLB scouts that give preference (including bigger signing bonuses) for a just a few year difference in age. There's little incentive to lower your age 3 years for boxing.

People don't seem to understand that in Mexico, mostly central Mexico where Canelo is from, there are a lot of white skinned Mexicans. It's because not all Spanish Europeans mixed with Native Americans. A lot did, but not all. That's why if you ever go to Mexico City, you'll see a fair amoutn of white skinned Mexicans. The reason you don't see a lot of white skinned Mexican immigrants coming into America is because most of the immigrants coming from Mexico, or a large amount, come from Northern Mexico, where most people are brown skinned Mexicans. Canelo is Mexican people....

As far as the age thing, who knows??? I doubt it, but you never know.
