I guess, but 24 is still young in boxing. It just seems like an odd risk to take for not that much gain, although I guess it would only make him look bad rather than do any real harm. Not like he has a long term contract that pays him by the year where age is a real big deal like baseball.

He may have lied to fight younger fighters in Mexico.

They do it all the time in Mexico, at least in futbol anyway.

They get on the Junior Teams and stick out like sore thumbs amid all the young developing players. That way they have better chance of being scouted whereas if they had played with teams their age they would've looked relatively unexceptional.

Perhaps Canelo is doing the Boxing version of this? It wouldn't change my opinion of him either way.

On twitter, Chavez said Canelo is really 24 years old and he's he's deceiving people about being 21. What a weird thing to say.

Everybody knows Canela is lying about his age. Some insiders even claim he's 28.
