Comments Thread For: CompuBox Stats: Cotto's Drive Drops Floyd's Connects

Floyd Mayweather Jr. outlanded the determined Miguel Cotto 29-11 in the last two rounds. It wasn't easy for Mayweather though, he landed just 26% of his total punches after landing 46% in his previous nine fights.

Floyd made the statement he could have stayed on the outside and easily outboxed Cotto at the post fight press conference. He's full of it. Cotto gave him all sorts of trouble.

Believe what you want but Floyd did exactly what he said he would which was go toe to toe and not move and box. Notice in the late rounds (after taking more shots than expected) he started to box and clearly won those rounds.

I believe Floyd fought Cotto's fight (to make it exciting) until he decided that was not in his best interest.

Spot on. He really tried taking the risk to make the fight what it was.

According to compubox, Mayweather outlanded Cotto in every round apart from Round 8.

Not sure what they were watching in Round 6, though.

Why do you fools deny your own eyes , on the outside Floyd wasnt touched , guy gets called a runner his whole career because nobody can lay a glove on him , he says he will stand toe to toe and does and then they still rubbish him , haters hate no matter what the result .

Sorry, I can't believe that a guy with a perfect record who undeniably wants to keep it would willingly fight the other guy's fight.

Fighter did touch him from the outside. Corley and Judah did land nice flush shots.

Floyd fans like to forget those shots huh?

Floyd had nowhere near the amount of control he's claiming. He did what he was able to. Yes, he was fighting Cotto's fight. That's true.
