I'll do some digging when I'm home. Two fight deal with GBP, his first fight being a $1.25m guarantee versus Allan, plus a share of the PPV and the total fight revenue as an equity holder of the Company. Furthermore, the Calzaghe fight offered him his highest guarantee, not payday. He was guaranteed $2.75mil versus Trinidad and also earned a share of PPV.
So who did Joe Calzaghe duck?

He was guaranteed $3m for the Calzaghe fight plus 50% of the UK/European revenue.I'll do some digging when I'm home. So in other words, no he did not make more fighting Allen or Joppy.Comment

Hmm...this is what you asked:
Yes, he did. Furthermore, I don't know how much the UK/Euro revenue is. I assume the 50% wouldn't go straight in his pocket anyway.
And finally, you keep pretending as if Hopkins ducked a fight with Calzaghe. No, he turned down a contract offer from the lesser paying Showtime. Unless you think he ducked a fight with Harry Simon too. Hopkins didn't like the numbers (he would have been fighting for peanuts in the two previous fights before Calzaghe) and instead, decided to sign a long-term deal with HBO. The same HBO that offered him a $3.5 million guarantee to fight Carl Daniels (imagine that?), of which he received $2.8 after King jerked him around. The same reason why he walked away from King and refused the Showtime deal/promotion extension.Comment

I asked knowing the answer. I wanted to see what you'd come out with. He didn't make more fighting those guys and you know it.
Regardless, fighting less challenging fights when more challenging ones are presented to you is still ducking. Sorry.Comment

Or if either are hardly a challenge then it's negligible (ie. Simon, Hakkar, Joppy, etc.). Then again, he wasn't offered a fight. He was offered fights ie. a contract with a network which included an extension with his promoter.

IMDAZED, why are you even bothering with this **** Digger? Calzaghe fans are cowards when it comes to boxing - don't you ever forget that.Comment

There is no way that a wbo outfit with warren doing the negotiating was able to offer £3m. Its BS. It was a fake title at the time, for goodness sake. There are no £3m fights for the equivalent WBF/IBC titles EVEN today with nearly 20 years inflation on top.
Thats just what Wassen said, along with saying that "calzaghe was in training for lining up Echols/Pavlik/hopkins/johnson/Tate" when in reality he never was. He was just trying his best to lie to get his man a mention in the newspapers.
Joe fought all the bums and beat them all. plus three good wins too, give him credit for that.Last edited by DreamFighter; 01-27-2019, 03:52 PM.Comment

Literally the most overrated fighter to ever come out of here. Fought ****ing bums and retired.
He only fought 3 top 5 opponents in 46 fights. That's ****ing shocking.
I don't give a **** which snowflake gets triggered but I'm gonna call it as it is - Calzaghe only gets "rated" because he's British, white and undefeated.
Our media will suck off any old hype job. Shiiiiiit if an overrated fighter like Golovkin or Crawford were from here, they'd be considered greater than CalzagheComment
