IMO his best performance. Corrales going into the fight was a beast and a favorite. Crap I thought Corrales was going to KO Floyd.
Floyd broke him down picked his shots and went for the kill. Excellent use of every facet in boxing in that fight against a hard punching foe with skills.
Gatti will ALWAYS be his best performance to me unless Mayweather can top it this saturday.
Without using a lot of movement to get in position, he stayed in punching range and still perfectly blended his offense and defense into something that I can only describe as a whirlwind of physical and mental pain.
Mayweather made a game Gatti start to run away. It could be seen on Mayweather's face that he was surgical scalpel sharp. Seeing the determination and anger in his eyes made me think "this wasn't Mayweather" when I watched it earlier this week.
Five punch combinations, head and body, with him putting weight behind every punch? Uppercuts, body shots with both hands, triple lead rights, constantly stepping around to find somewhere to land another punch, setting traps off your opponent's jab to have him step into your left hook if he doubles it up?
That was him coming in to kill someone. Corrales just seemed like him taking advantage of the opportunities presented to him.
How is gatti(r.i.p), a club fighter who was a *****ty boxer, so high on yalls list?
an over the hill club fighter at that....
Gatti was past his prime-still good, and it's Floyd's best performance, not best fighter he's fought. Gatti was still the #2 JWW with the WBC title, coming off 5 straight decent wins. He avenged his Ward loss twice, Dorin, Branco, Leija. It's not like Gatti was a Chuck Wepner or some s**t. Gatti was a game fighter in 2005, and when Mayweather f**ked him up the way he did, it was impressive.
