Dawson had every physical advantage u could think of...reach...speed...athleticism...height...and most importantly 20yr youthful advantage. Hes also a technical boxer himself. For people to not be amazed at a man almost 50 yrs old able to use his FEET & movement & intelligence to keep a bigger faster man off balance & at bay & compete effectively is insane to me. I saw this live last night & he made daws miss over & over all night. But ask urself why dawson never went for the kill...why didn't dawson overwhelm him. Why didn't Dawson impose his will?? Bernard looked incredible if put into proper perspective. Ask urself if dwayne wade would fail to score 50 on mike jordon today if they met on the court.... He would run mike ragged. YOUTH!!! nard hit chad w/ 3 consecutive str rights late in the fight chad never answered. This wasn't a fight where one guy blew the other out. & that's bc Hopkins is really a brilliant fighter. Unbelievable really. No 1 quitter hitter in his bag....all craft. #salute
    you're right bro.

Bernard's defense was impeccable and nobody really noticed it !!!

Go watch Dawson at the end of the fight. Dawson stood his ground but got his heart broken.
he was slipping punches very impressively.

effective aggressiveness is just an excuse to favorite a fighter over another, it makes no sense, and is never use correctly, as for the EFFECTIVE part.

a fighter can't be EFFECTIVE in backing up? setting traps? positioning his opponent and making the opponent miss? countering the opponent doesn't get scored? WTF, it's like some orwellian double speak/newspeak.

hopkins is the end of an era, losing like this is real crappy, because a guy like him and what he was doing last night, should be revered and revered and respected in the scoring. he was the champ, close rounds should and usually go to the champ, you have to normally take it from the champ but it seems when hopkins does get the belt, the establishment will take it from him for the other fighter, it seems to be a pattern really.

rios abril comes to mind of the same scoring issues, as well as a plethora of other fights and examples.

old school slick fighters are being forced out of boxing, that style is being forced into extinction by the scoring criteria.... soon, to no longer be the sweet science.
he definitely won the taylor fights he didnt throw a lot but he landed when he did and he made taylor miss bad.

Also Dawson had two cuts in his eyes which most likely affected his performance. Just remember Hopkins couldn't mount an offense, I can't give respect to a man who has to use his head, and clinch every second.
total bull**** hopkins as landing sharp accurate right hands dawson was not blocking much.

Quit underestimating Dawson's defense, you may it seem like Dawson is Pascal or Pavlik. Dawson has very good defense, and he slipped and blocked most of what Hopkins threw. If you mean by landing sharp right hands, you must mean landing one punch every minute, which isn't really much.

I think you are confusing landed punches with headbutts. Dawson had two cuts in his eyes, and even after that he was still getting head-butted. Now if Dawson wasn't cut, he probably would of won much more convincingly. But still won convincingly despite the two cuts.
