If Floyd fights the right fights over the rest of his career, he could get to the top 20-25. Maybe. That's just how deep the history of the sport is, and how good the resumes of those guys ahead of him are.
Huh? You guys raise the bar so high for Floyd it's crazy. Floyd has to basically fight the pound 4 pound top 5 at the age of 35 years and older, just to crack "your" top 20-25??? This guy is an Olympic medalists and been a champ since the late 90's. All you boxing "purists" do realize that SRL was getting worked over by Terry Norris and Camacho at 35-36?? Tell me how impressive is his resume when his fight with Hagler is one of the most debated "who really won" fights in history (so much so, articles and documentary pieces have been made on it )? How impressive is it for losing to a smaller Duran? How impressive is losing roughly 70%-80% of rounds boxed with Hearns? Outta 40 fights, SRL resume is littered with a lot of holes. But you're telling me Floyd who's last 6 or 7 fights have consisted of either HOF caliber (Oscar, JMM), undefeated (Hatton), or World Champions (Mosley, Ortiz, and now Cotto) somehow has to go on a murderers row of P4P fighters at the same age Roy and SRL were getting beat like a drum, well into 50 plus fights, just to crack your top 20-25? I don't think you subconsciously know what you're really saying. He's so good to you, that you lump somewhat unrealistic expectations on the guy, just to please you now. Give it up, man.

To be fair, in order for you to fully grasp the finer things in boxing (i.e. distance, feints, traps, waist movement, foot placement, etc) I'll throw you a bone and say you'd have to be around 9-10 years old to start understanding that. If you've seen close for 60+ years the BEST, one of two things should have occured in your 70+ years on Earth.....1) You wouldn't go around saying words like DUMBO...and 2) You would know how to spell EVEN by now.

      Just saying....

You have a hell of a lot to learn.

Just shut up. Please, just stop. I don't care if you are trolling, or are just this much of a moron, but shut up.

And that's what you've been reduced to, huh? Name calling and no intelligent response. Voice your opinion with some adult words. I'll be a moron, the fact still remains, you guys go to extreme lengths to discredit a fighter, but white wash past greats resumes as if it only consisted of three fights. Like I stated, without GOOGLE you guys couldn't name more than 5 fighters that the past greats fought to make them great. If you don't think he's the greatest of all time, fine. But to say he's not in the conversation is just crazy. You guys are highlight fans. Only the cream of the crop in a generation seems to exist to you guys. While you continue to act like SRL fought Hearns, Hagler, and Duran for 40 fights, I'll continue to be a true boxing fan. It's the unsung cats like Julian "The Hawk" Jackson, John "The Beast" Mugabe, Michael Nunn, Azuma Nelson, Simon Brown, etc that are the shoulders the greats stand on. So continue to dismiss an already steller resume filled with world champions just because they're not Hagler or Hearns. He's fought his fair share of good/great opponents just like all the all time greats have. Be a fan of Boxing and not Boxers. The kid is good and it lowers people perception of your boxing knowledge when you're in a boxing discussion forum and after reading hundreds of opinions, all you can muster is calling someone a moron. Step your game up.

I read all of this and basically came away with...A) I was right...while SRL was on fight number 39 at the age of 35, he was getting worked....while for his 50th fight you want Floyd to move up in weight at 35-36 and fight a guy who can fight at Middleweight...sounds like a different standard to me....B) Maybe...maybe not....we'll never know...still doesn't take him off the short list for the "greatest fighter ever"....unless you're willing to take Ali off the list for losing to a 7 win Spinks....C) You do know he fought 40 times? Therefore, take away 4-5 names and he fought the same amount of "nobody's" Floyd has....and making Hagler wait 5 years isn't the best example of "I fight all comers"..So in summary, yes I have a lot to learn, that's why I don't mind jousting opinions with you guys...you're just limiting yourself from gaining anything cause hate clouds your judgement.
