I see where your coming from but that Margarito win was fools gold. Plus he had a year and a half layoff after he fought Margarito and stepped into the ring with Floyd. The key is, look after the Mayweather fight. Didn't he struggle with Sergio Mora the contender dude?
When he fought cotto he was as sharp as ever and fought well enough to win the fight. That's the best he had looked since the first de la hoya fight on the big stage.
Against Floyd it was a combination of being neutralized and being old. Floyd took his soul and Mosley lost his confidence and just fought to survive and get paid. But you can't determine whether 2007 shane was better than 2010 Shane based on his fights with Floys and cotto because Floyd would have destroyed 2007 shane just as easily. Cotto is an easier matchup for him.
I agree with you that margarito is a better win for mosley than collazo. But I'd take the younger faster 2007 Mosley any day over the 2010 version with over a year layoff.Last edited by GRUSTLER; 04-25-2012, 02:31 AM.Comment

Pac didn't want to fight Cotto at 154 but 147 in the rematch so how could anyone say that Cotto don't stand a chance against Manny even at 154 when Pac didn't want to fight him even at 150 because of how Margarito had him in the fetal position after their fight.Comment

After Mayweather agreed on financial terms -- a purse of at least $10 million that will probably increase to between $15 million and $18 million once the pay-per-view numbers are tallied -- he gave in to De La Hoya on every point just to get him in the ring.
Gloves? De La Hoya wanted Reyes brand, the "puncher's glove." Even though Mayweather always wears Winning brand, which better protects his brittle hands, he agreed.
"I can't wear the gloves I want to wear, but he can wear the gloves he wants to wear, so he said, 'Let's put that in the contract.' So I said, 'OK, no problem.'"Comment

Yeah but Floyd was out for a long time too and only fought JMM at 144 before he fought Shane. Technically you can say Floyd was still shaking off some rust and Mosley was/is way stronger than Marquez. Mosley crushed Margarito. Cotto could not do that in the first fight OR when Margarito had his eye all busted it up after his beat down from Pac. Shane/Cotto was a close fight. I think Cotto did enough to win but Shane had Cotto trying to coast through the final rounds to secure a win. Shane was the first guy to show a blue print on how to beat Cotto (pressure) which Margarito capitalized on. Mosley did what no other fighter could do to Margarito..... knock him out. ALSO, Shane didn't want to fight Floyd when he was in his prime. Don't understand why so many disregard this fact.Comment

Ha ha ha! Even before that. Floyd moved up to WW wanting a fight with either Shane or Oscar.
With the win (Henry Bruseles), Mayweather sets up a proposed June bout with WBC champion Arturo Gatti, assuming Gatti gets past James Leija next weekend. Mayweather, however, seems to be looking to bigger and better things.
"I'm told that [Shane] Mosley and [Oscar] De La Hoya are going to 147," Mayweather said. "I plan to join them there."Last edited by GRUSTLER; 04-25-2012, 03:34 AM.Comment
