I don't see an advantage for any of those fighters to fight a short Marquez (In comparison to Prescott and Abril) since Marquez is a 100 times better counter puncher than any of those guys. If Rios or Alvarado try to get close to Marquez with their terrible defense, they're going to receive TONS of punches from JMM.

Diaz and Katsidis where both able to have moments vs Marquez on the inside.I don't see an advantage for any of those fighters to fight a short Marquez (In comparison to Prescott and Abril) since Marquez is a 100 times better counter puncher than any of those guys. Both Mike and Rios being a lot stronger and bigger than both gives them a shot.
Will allow them to take his punches better as well. Diaz and Katsidis gassed vs Marquez.
Alvarado aint gassing vs anyone. He has freakish stamina even after taking everything from Prescott he had a ton of energy.Comment

I don't think that they "gassed", but actually they were broken down by Marquez.Diaz and Katsidis where both able to have moments vs Marquez on the inside.

Receiving punches from all angles and all the time makes the body generate a lot of stress, which makes it also use more energy and therefore makes a boxer get tired earlier.
Also in both fights (Katsidis and Díaz) you can clearly see that Marquez tends to move around the ring a lot, making these guys get tired faster than they normally do.
About them being bigger, I agree that they are bigger and stronger than Díaz for example, but I still don't think they're harder punchers than lets say Pacquiao.Comment

Of course not. But Mayweather and Kats KD Marquez.I don't think that they "gassed", but actually they were broken down by Marquez.

Juan Diaz hurt Marquez. I agree about the breaking down. Though Jaun showed vs Campbell that he could handle adversity well.
Katsidis was pure breakdown.Comment

All would be entertaining fights. I hope Rios isn't rewarded with this fight though. I'd like to see Alvarado in there but I think it'll be Gesta. Who f*#%ing knows with sleazy @ss Arum though!Comment

Top Rank wants to make Rios into a star, since all they have is Donaire, Chavez jr. , and Bradley . They will sacrifice Gesta to have Marquez finally beat a Filipino, and make the Mexican nationalist happy. Katsidis dropped Marquez and at 140 so will Alvarado, let's see,if he gets a shot at that WBO Interim title. I doubt it too much money at play for a 4th Pacman fight depending on a Bradley victory.Comment

I don't think Alvarado would last long enough to drop Marquez. I see what your saying but look at the way Prescott outboxed Alvarado before he eventually slowed down and got KO'd. Marquez would KO Alvarado pretty quick I think. The first few rounds would be entertaining though.Top Rank wants to make Rios into a star, since all they have is Donaire, Chavez jr. , and Bradley .
