They followed the same motion over and over, with Rios charging in - and Abril hitting him and then holding him and then Drakulich pulling them apart and then they do it all over again.
I don't have a problem on how you scored the fight, what i'm trying to understand is in your article you're trying to blame Abril for holding and doing stuff he was never taken a point from. I'm sensing you didn't like Abril's style I get it, but to blame him is outright ridiculous.

He's only gonna get away with what they let him get away with, your article should've been against Drakulich and Robert Garcia, Abril did his job, don't blame him for something that the ref and Rios corner screwed up on. There was nothing close about this fight, absolutely nothing.

I did? Are we reading the same article? I mostly criticize Rios for his shortcomings in the fight and how Abril either caught him with punches coming in or picked off his shots with his gloves. I don't blame Abril for anything and simply note that he used the method of holding to stop Rios from building any momentum. Did he make it ugly to watch? Of course. Not one person that I spoke to after the fight was jumping to see another match involving Abril.

So why write that he kept holding him from rounds 5 thru 12? Anyone who hasn't seen the fight and reads your article is gonna assume that he held more than he boxed.

Nobody is trying to do anything in boxing about making it better. Everything is $ driven in all major industries, so you will never get any just or quality decisions.

This is yet another reason why I would never bet on a fight. Ever. Boxing can't let one remotely important fight happen without controversy. Someway, somehow, every fight these days gets f***ed up.

If I were Tim Bradley or Miguel Cotto, I'd be horribly depressed right now, because even if those two fight a tremendous fight they probably have no chance at a decision. If one of those guys gets robbed, I'm probably done with boxing for a while.

So Abril won the fight on pure holding?
