Well not in this case. It was there to be made. Bute's people wanted it. Showtime certainly wanted it since they turned down Froch-Bute! Only Ward didn't want it.

It'll be a shame if Ward moves up and we never see this fight. I just dont wanna see a repeat of Khan-Bradley

This was so obvious. HBO often Pick up the stars from Showtime, and this is no different. I still hope for Ward-Bute though. Of course Bute has at least one fight against Froch lined up and although he's the favourite, its not a fight where the outcome is a given.

This shouldn't be a surprise. He may not be the most exciting style but the way you can market him, it won't matter. A former olympic gold medalist, undefeated, top fighter in his division/p4p, and well spoken.....it was only a matter of time before HBO would come calling. Feel bad for SHO because they start these young guys and build them but that's just the way it is.

You'll see Ward/Bute down the road and you'll see Khan/Bradley after Bradley fights Pac(especially if Bradley losses). Just hold on and be patient.

I used to tell people the same thing about Pacquiao-Mayweather, mate!

The fighter I most wanna see Ward in with right now is Martinez. That's a superfight. Unfortunately, Martinez is looking down the scale for his next superfight and appears to have no interest in looking up. The fighter next on my Ward wish list is Bute. Ward hasn't shown any interest in that fight until this interview, and now the television contracts may put that one on hold. Next would be a move to light heavy to fight either the Hopkins-Dawson or Cloud-Pascal winner. That would a very acceptable opponent as well. As long as Ward hits one of these options, I'll have no issues with him.

I still think you'll even see that fight. You might not get all these fights when you want them but you'll eventually get them. Look at Cotto/Mayweather. I'm sure no one thought that fight would ever happen and despite it being 5 years too late, it's happening and majority of people are still excited to see it.

Yes look at Cotto-Mayweather. I wanted it in 08 and its happening in 2012 when I really don't want to see it.

                    Perfect example.

I said majority. Majority of people are upset it's happening 5 years later but we're still excited that's happening, and on fight night, you'll be too. Nothings perfect in boxing so you have to be happy with what you get.
