Another point I'd like to make is just look at Andre Ward, hell of a talent and American born and bred. Humble, religious, and very respectful towards people, pretty much an all around role model for kids. Yet it's very unlikely he'll ever become a boxing superstar and you're not going to see a wave of American flags at his fights. The fans he'll gain will be boxing fans, fans from California, or fans he attains if he goes out and promotes himself. If he fights Bute in Canada, it's gonna be a packed house, and you're not going to see thousands of Americans book flights to go support him. Take Andre Ward and make him Mexican, British, or Puerto Rican and you have a superstar and crowds packed with a sea of flags from the hypothetical nation he's from. Adrien Broner has a better chance of becoming a boxing superstar and it damn sure won't be because he's American. He's young, trash talks, acts a fool, and appeals to the younger hip hop crowds and is reality television friendly (a big factor her in the US).
