Oasis Hotel Complex, Cancun, Mexico - Returning for the first time since last October's TKO loss to Antonio DeMarco, "El Nino De Oro" Jorge Linares (31-3, 20KOs) was stopped in two rounds by hard-hitter Sergio Thompson (22-2, 20KOs). Thompson took the fight to Linares and started testing the former champion's chin and caught him with several good shots. By the end of the round, Linares started firing back with his own hard shots. In the second, Thompson rocked Linares with a variety of punches and put him down. Linares had a nasty cut open up above the left eye and the fight was stopped.
