Why didn't Victor Ortiz get suspended?

Juan Manuel Lopez makes a comment about a referee in the heat of the moment after a disappointing loss and he is being threatened with a year and a half suspension. Victor Ortiz intentionally head butts his opponent in the face and blames the ref for his loss and comes out with a statement that he was "trying to break his nose 100%" a couple months after the fight and he is granted a license to fight for a title. This is ludicrous. Victor Ortiz actually and factually broke the rules and cheated in a dangerous and de****able act and said he would do it again yet he doesn't receive any punishment. Lopez makes comments about a ref and his career is being threatened. This is the epitome of unfair.

Good for his ass, he got what he deserved!! He accused the Ref & his son(who's also a ref & also worked Juanma's last fight against Salido) of being gamblers & placing bets on Salido against him!! & he also said the commission knew about this & didn't do anything about it..Then he came with a B U L L S H I T excuse that he didn't remember anything he said..So the rumor is that he's getting 3 months by default for getting KO'd(that's common on fighters getting KO'd) then 3 months for other medical reason's(for saying he suffered amnesia like symptoms after the fight, in other words his BULL S H IT back fired on him) & 1 year for the false accusations he made of the refs & also getting the commission involved..Plus a $10,000 fine & community service..I think its all fare..This way no other fighter will try a ****** stunt like that..

How is this any worse than Malignaggi's tirade after the Diaz fight?

The fact that Lopez said something that ridiculous after being KO made it that much better. The seriousness of his face while saying it was hilarious.....classic stuff. That was the funniest excuse in that moment I've heard in years, maybe ever. I mean David Haye's toe excuse was pretty funny until they pointed the camera on it......anyway Juanma capped off a perfect night of boxing with that interview for me.

Just give him a BS suspension that lasts as long as he's likely to take off after a fight like that.

In the 1st Malignaggi/Díaz fight, Malignaggi was clearly robbed & that fight was in Texas & by all the things that have happened there lately, it seems that the commission there doesn't really give a s h i t about anything...Juanma ACCUSED the ref & his son of BETTING ON SALIDO WITH SOMEONE HE KNEW & EVEN DRAGGED THE COMMISSION IN BY SAYING THEY KNEW ABOUT IT & DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!! That's a BIG accusation & the commission told Juanma to show proof of his allegations & when Juanma couldn't come up with the proof he decided to say he suffered amnesia after the fight & didn't remember anything..So he got what he deserved & people here in Puerto Rico agree with what he got & others say he should have gotten a bigger punishment!!

Let’s face it, the boxing commission is probably more concerned about JuanMa making them look bad than what he said about the ref. They want to send a message. If this was only about Ramirez, the multiple apologies should go a long way towards putting the issue to rest. Lopez deserves some form of punishment, but the suggested suspension appears excessive.
