The Jermain Taylor that beat Hopkins vs the current Sergio Martinez

Who wins this fight? IMO Sergio Martinez would have probably knocked out Taylor. I remember Taylor having issues with Cory Spinks and he wasn't even a MW & had no power. I remember Manny Steward going hard on Taylor in between rounds in that fight.

Jermain has always had defense issues.

He also had stamina issues/mental problems late.

Sergio gets that KO late. Taylor is probably in the fight before he gets KO'd.

        I'd take Jermain by decision.

Prime Taylor beats Martinez. Macklin and Barker were competitive against Martinez because they boxed and Taylor is a MUCH better boxer than them. Remember Martinez also struggled against Pavlik, a tall boxer with a consistant jab...

Pavlik beat JT twice. Including one KO.

Taylor almost lost to Ouma, Spinks and should have loss to Wright.

Styles make fights, Martinez is not a tall boxer who walks you down and works behind the jab. Martinez can't reproduce what Pavlik did to JT (and Pavlik almost got stopped himself in the first fight).

                Doesn't need to.

Sergio shoots that straight left over the lowered guard of JT all night.

When Taylor slows down( Which he will) Sergio gets even more accurate and boom goes the dynamite.

Maravilla gets him late. Taylor's jab and length might give Martinez some trouble early, but he'd adjust and catch him with a straight left and end it.

We've never seen Martinez in the ring with an elite quick boxer like prime JT, the blend of speed, skills and power would be too much for Sergio. Remember both Pavlik and Froch tasted the canvas when they faced JT and they're bigger and probably have a better chin than Martinez.
