He didn't end up fighting Raheem (who beat Morales), Guzman, Soto, or Valero while they were at 130. I don't blaim Manny for taking only one fight at 135 and than cashing big on Oscar, which made him a Superstar. But, if I had my wish on what he would have done, it'd have been this.....After Pac's controversial fight with JMM, fight Casamayor in Mid-2008 (as we know JMM fought Casa instead). He was the RING LW champ. And than, if the Oscar fight never happened, fight nate Campbell, who won the WBA-WBO-IBF LW titles over Juan Diaz earlier in the year. Than, go take the Hatton fight at 140. That would have been wish then and looking back. Can't blaim Pac for taking the Oscar fight though. There's things I wish Floyd would have done differently.

Instead of fighting Phillip N'dou, an ehhhhh fight, fight Juan Lazcano who just beat Stevie Johnston. I didn't mind the Sosa fight because he was a Top 10 LW at the time and had been robbed of a championship against Spadafora. Or instead of wasting time on Bruseles, go straight for Gatti and than Tszyu. As we know, Tszyu lost to Hatton, who Floyd fought in 2007.

Things don't always happen the way we want them to, oh well.
SOme of those fights for floyd were not financially viable, especially after HBO had him on contract. HBO wasn't concerned with building a fighter, just making profit. So they want Floyd and Manny to look good rather than fight tough fights because the more they look good the more profit they make.

HBO has been good for boxing but when they had people signed to exclusive deals it did skew the competitive aspect of boxing significantly for those who made big money.

I agree about Tszyu, and they were negotiating that fight to happen after Floyd-Gatti and Tszyu-Hatton, Kostya lost and Floyd fought Hatton in 07'. And for those people claiming "Floyd avoided Hatton at 140", it was clearly the other way around. After Floyd put it on Gatti, Hatton wanted no part of that. Even Mosley back then, when he arguably still prime, wanted no part of that. Hatton said he wasn't ready for Floyd in 2005. Floyd ended up beating him anyway.

Floyd could have fought Juan Lazcano though at LW. That would have been a damn good fight in Late 2003/Early 2004. Lazcano was the #1 LW contender and had just beaten Stevie Johnston.

meh i think both manny and floyd have the same amount of hof's in prime opponents...which is around two???

hatton is doubtful for the hof....but then again his popularity might blind ppl.

floyd beats manny easy. which is the subtle question of this thread.

Zivic upset Henry Armstrong and beat Sammy Angott, that's it. He never did anything else, but that got him in the HOF.
upset? he beat hank twice... an authentic top tier ATG along with angott and lamotta for crying out loud...

here u are *****ing about corrales beating fighters A, B, C therefore should enter the hall but then again underrating zivic...

He was the WBA SFW champ and the RING #7 SFW in 2006, #4 in 2007, and #1 in 2008 after Manny left 130.

I'm sorry, I didn't know Jorge Solis or Oscar Larios were better opponents at that point.

I wasn't bashing him, I stated that Floyd should have fought Lazcano instead of N'dou at LW as well.

Floyd could have fought a number of different fighters. But floyd has gone through a significant career transformation that altered his career.

The big names wouldn't fight him and the other names weren't really part of Top Rank's plan to build him up. Juan Lazcano was a good boxer but its hard to see him and floyd being sellable. Floyd needed to take on opponents that could help him sell tickets, which was a HUGE problem for him.

So floyd definitely could have had better names, but floyd, back then, didn't need quality wins as much as he needed to prove he could sell seats. Dude was the best boxer other than RJJ in the world but couldn't sell out in Michigan.

If McGuigan got in then you can bet your ass Corrales and Castillo will get in.

DeMarco is a good fighter, he just beat the supremely talented Linares.
