As mentioned, doesn't take mandated tests, comes in at 180+, never tires, even though he had to drain all that weight? <__<....Suuuuuuuureee... Let's not forget, Chavez Jr and Chavez Sr only have mentioned Sergio when they had a fight move up, but rewind a bit...and Sr complained that why his son had to fight martinez, why he couldn't have more voluntary defenses.... Love Chavez Sr...A LOT...Chavez Jr, I'll give him credit, he seems to be improving, and he's massive for his weight class and Martinez isn't getting any younger..his size and strength alone almost ensures he MIGHT not get KOd and also I'll give him that he, for the most part, doesn't retreat (mostly..)..but he'll just eat a left hand as soon as he even decides he wants to engage...every time. Pot shot to death.

I won't insult Roach though...I'll just say that his reality...isn't the same one we live in..

Chavez Jr. is heavy-legged, lacks knockout power, is slow for 160 and has absolutely no ring generalship.

Sergio will pot-shot him until the corner mercifully throws in the towel. And Chavez Sr. will be caught by HBO cameras crying like a little b$%@*
      AMEN

Chavez too big for the little martinez

Chavez destroys the little old man Martinez. Chavez will have 25 lbs on the smaller Martinez and will push him all around the ring. first martinez isn't that good. Second Roach and Chavez senior will have the kid ready to put a big time whipping on the little old man.

                  I have in other threads.

I said that McGirt didn't reinvent Macklin. He took a full assessment of the tools that Macklin had, and then came up with an effective approach.

Macklin wasn't trying to be someone he wasn't. McGirt simply came up with a way for Macklin to stay competitive by teaching Macklin how not to let Martinez get into a rhythm and dictate the pace. Macklin was NOT dazzling anyone by any means, but he was able to use what he had to make sure that Martinez wasn't either.

And by staying relevant in the fight, Macklin was actually able to take the lead at one point. Matt gassed, but he was able to show that even a C- level fighter can be effective if he has a solid plan and sticks to it.

Approach vs physical gifts is a discussion lost on this site.

McGirt is HIGHLY underrated. So is Ronnie Shields.

Both are great trainers. Its just that finding great students is much harder than most people think. Hence all the need for all the hype and careful matchmaking.

Chavez should be to strong and to big for Martinez. If they fight he should win by ko.

So this is it, huh? We've fallen so far now that we're actually saying that guys who've won 4 of their last 5 fights by KO or stoppage have been "exposed"?

                      Genius.
