Like Kev said, there is the WBO. And, the WBO is just as major as the WBC, WBA, and IBF. So..what does this mean?

that means someone has to win all 4 belts and become undisputed so he can lose to someone else who will become lineal again. the line between the guy who unifies and the guy who beats him is the start of lineage.

When Pacquiao became the Lineal champion at 126 for beating Barrera, there was no title on the line whatsoever. Well at least none of the alphabet titles. The Ring title was on the line, but also the Lineal title too. So Pacquiao became The Ring and Lineal FW champion, with no ABC belt on the line.


So the lineal champion is not determined by beating the undisputed champion.



Also Floyd Mayweather became the 130 pound Lineal champion by beating Hernandez with only the WBC title on the line.


Belts are useless when determining who is The Ring or Lineal champ at a weight class.
