Great to see he's back in training.

The guy has a tremendous skill set and talent wise, is the best the HW division has to offer. Unfortunetly he's happy to somewhat hinder that talent by carrying an extra 30lbs of pure fat. If he put's in the work, eats right and sticks with it....what a fighter.

This is one of the more slanted "reports" I've seen. This Boxing Photos guy is a twister. Solis was nowhere near winning the round he landed about a third of the punches Klitschko did, and was hit by a punch to the head which knocked him down. He damaged his knee with the way he fell because his body went one way and his feet, momentarily powerless, stayed more or less where they were, the foot on his uninjured leg sliding slightly. He was KO'd. Boxing-shmoxing is trying to perpetuate another boxing myth.

All that could be said about Solis' brief performance was that he looked fast and mobile. in fact Klitschko's KO counter-punch pinpointed Solis' head, ducking down after throwing a 4 punch combination, none of which landed, Repeat, NONE OF WHICH LANDED.

Finally he emerges from the shadows. I just mentioned him couple weeks ago. Must've been a pretty bad injury and people thought he faked it. I'm sure Klitschko's "punch" was the cause of Solis' knee blowing out... -_-. Solis was actually having pretty good success for as long as it lasted.

You guys really thought Vitali was winning that round huh?

              Great to hear this,

Main concern is whether he's got the urge and desire. An in shape and focused Solis is the best challenge for a Klistchko out there. Like someone said, the heavyweight division needs Solis. He did excellent in that first round with Vitali.

Let's hope he comes back roaring and fights Wlad at some point.

I was going to say the same thing. His leg was hurt because he was staggering after getting hit. He wasn't winning the round. If he'd made it to the bell, Klitschko would've had a two-point round.

Guys like Solis, who have weight problems when they are young, ALWAYS have weight problems.

What Solis will soon realize is some guys only get one shot at a title. Some get none. He blew it.

He isn't an exciting fighter. He doesn't have much in terms of personality (he usually looks bored). And he's usually out of shape. Bottom line, nobody really cares if he fights for a title ever again or not.

I have never seen a fat "sensation" and there was nothing sensational about the 2 times I saw him struggle in boring fights and get knocked out in the 3rd fight. About as sensational as watching paint dry, grass grow, Ketchup pour.

i think solis can be a very good heavyweight.

he's strong, highly skilled, and he's got very big bones. almost an 80 inch reach. he's a big dude. there's a badass HW under all of that chubby stuff.

                    decent footspeed too
he was able to get to vitali quickly. right before he blew his damn knee out taking a step forward (and got bonked on the head,)

the guy is fat. let's be real. he's F#cking fat. the guy was showing up to fights in '09 in the 260's and fought monte barrett weighing 271 lbs.

underneath solis extra 30 lbs of blubber is a very good heavyweight who could dominate the division after the klitschkos are gone

he should be 225 lbs. that's 20 less than he weighed against vitali. i'd honestly like to see him weighing 220 or less. he should take an entire year and stay busy with guys who can take him rounds but dont command dollars. over the course of the entire year, not balooning between fights, he could lose 30 lbs.

why do you think he's so good new england?

he clearly does not train. not hard, anyway. he's where he is on talent and skills he's already built up. i dont want to hear any of this "Body type" crap.
if you want to look like that (and weigh 271) you have to eat like a ****ing horse and sit around. if you are in top condition you do not blow your knee out taking a step.

if the man guy woke up 4 days a week and ran 3-5 miles hard and ate like an elite athlete (healthy as hell,) he wouldnt look like that.

now, is chris arreola (or solis for that matter,) ever going to be as ripped as wladimir? nope. that you can blame on body type (genes.)
I don't think his weight had anything to do with his knee injury. Lots of too heavy fighters are KD and don't tear their knees. The last prominent example of this njury was Klitschko himself, in 2004, which forced his 4 year retirement. He certainly wasn't overweight. He just got his legs entangled with his sparring-partner and, fell off-balance, in the wrong direction with his feet staying relatively in the same position. Too much strain on the joint.

With Solis, he was hit on the head, momentarily stunned, lost equilibrium, feet stayed in relatively the same spot whilst his body fell at the wrong angle. It was all very carefully documented at the time, with slo-mo closeups over and over again for every part of his lower legs and feet. he went down so fast, from a light looking blow, that it was thought that he had faked the KO. it was only when he got up that it was realised that his knee had ruptured.

Although it only seemed a glancing blow, a Klittschko glancing blow, if its in the right spot, can make you see stars. And this was legit. And of course he needs to fight at about 225-30.

No, sorry. The Klitschko's are undoubtedly the best Heavyweights right now, but they are not the most talented.

Physically gifted, yes. Most dominant, yes.

                      Most talented, no.
