On Tuesday, former two-time world champion Joan Guzman (32-0, 19KOs) underwent surgery on his right hand to correct a small fracture that he suffered in his most recent bout against Puerto Rico's Jesus Pavon, whom Guzman defeated by knockout in eight rounds. Good fight for Guzman at 140 given that Campbell just beat Cayo. The winner should fight Zab Judah.

I remember the days when people still cared about this fight. Margarito was an unstoppable monster, Hopkins was still in his 30s, Pacquiao was still at flyweight, Roy Jones was unbeaten, Michael Jackson was black, Ray Robinson had just made his debut etc.

Might be a bit late for them now but I don't suppose they have anything better to do.

With respect to Cayo, he wasn't really proven and overall Campbell's recent run of results suggests that he no longer has it. I haven't seen Guzman in a while but I'd be surprised if he wasn't able to get a convincing win here.

I'm surprised that he'd need surgery for a "slight fracture". And to be able to use his hand in two weeks would have to be very slight. I wonder do they use surgical glue? A slight fracture could heal naturally in 2-3 weeks. Even a cut just through surface skin might take 2 or more weeks to heal enough to be able to take surface force. Maybe the surgery was arthroscopic.

If both guys are still fighting I don't really have an issue with them fighting each other, although not that meaningful the winner would be in decent shape.

Would have been a great fight back in 08. I'd still check it out though. Two guys that wasted so many years of their careers. Campbell definitely has more to show for his career but I think Guzman has a better chance at doing something with whats left of his.
