A Russian and an Australian with no prior buildup (not even ESPN) as the main event? Really? As a hardcore fan, I love it, but it makes no business sense.

Ratings are suffering. The prior president is fired and now you're put in charge. "Gee whizz, I know exactly what to do! Lets put two guys nobody as ever heard of in the main event! Surely that will fix the problem!"

Pirog did have one HBO appearance in which he looked spectacular so maybe Hershman is banking on that, even though it was a while ago.

        Nice.
So I guess there wasn't any truth to the rumors of HBO blackballing Pirog for the Jacobs upset?

I feel the same, I will be watching the fights, they're both good fights. But it'll be a hard sell. Don't even wait on the numbers to come out, HBO will not want to say the card attracted 50,000 viewers[I'm exaggerating, I think that's too much]. I feel like this is just Hershman kinda saying, "Okay we'll put Europeans on HBO, but just to show you why we're so reluctant on doing it".

            I thought

HBO wouldnt show Priog? So whats the next excuse to come out of Dibella's mouth? Hopefully they make the fight with Pirog if he wins

Anyone who says that is a moron

These 2 fights are actually something that these 2 divisions haven't had in years...2 fights where all boxers are top 10 and 1 unification

Not to mention it is cheap card...only people that will complain are those that simply want big names stacked against mismatches

Yeah, but that was on a JMM PPV with only 150k buys that was bought by a completely different demographic that would be interested in Pirog. And I'm pretty sure there was no replays of the Pirog fight on regular HBO.

You'd probably prefer canelo agains Matthew Hatton and JCC jr against some bum just because it makes the best "business sense" to HBo, you won't make a penny off of it, then actually see 2 dead even competitive fights with the divisions best

What a boxing fan you are

Otherwise no way Pirog vs Geale should not be a main event. Maybe an undercard fight.

Way to put words in my mouth. When did I say anything like that? I'm glad they're making Pirog vs Geale if it's true as I stated various times. I really want to see it. But don't be surprised the fight doesn't get made for the reasons I stated. It is a ****** move by HBO. I'm not deluding myself.

I'm guessing this will be on HBO World Championship Boxing (unification fight) which is more expensive than BAD, so I don't think this will be cheap. Somehow Garry Shaw always manages to get big dollars out of HBO.
