Imagine had Molina act like he got hit with an anvil on the back of the head when he got rabbit punched or fakes like he got hit hard with a lowblow and spoiling the fight even more.
These biased zilches would probably demand for Molina's public execution.

As previous stated before....I bet if you asked Molinas fans before the fight which type of fighting style they hate, I bet they would say style like Ward and BHop....but once Molina fights the "same " style....all of a sudden its "who cares, he was winning".....
So I guess Molina punching Kirkland before during and after the clinch didn't count???

          It's a good question.

I thought Molina was robbed disgracefully but I also think he clinched excessively and should have been at least warned.

And I'm a big Ward fan.

          How do I reconcile that?

Well, I guess I don't think Ward clinches as much as Molina did last night. Or if he does, I don't notice it as much cos I think he's doing so many other interesting things too. There is, of course, the possibility that I ignore it BECAUSE I'm such a big Ward fan.

But I do generally dislike excessive clinching; it's visually ugly.

Re Hopkins - it's somewhat excusable cos of his age - but it still means most of his fights these days suck.

Hatton, Ruiz, Alexander, Berto are some of my least favourite fighters, and their excessive use of clinching probably plays a part.

Kirkland looked lost, he didn't know what to do.

Molina just outsmarted him. Kirkland who is an offensive machine, I don't think I have seen a boring fight of his yet up to the Molina fight, could not get his offense going. Molina took his offense away.

And, no matter how anyone feels about it. That's skill, that's boxing, that's craftiness, caginess. Molina did what he was suppose to do.

And, when there wasn't any clinching. And, Molina was standing his ground he would back Kirkland up with punches out fight him in spots. Like in round 6.

              Never said that.......

But answer this..........Hopkins and Ward are roundly criticized for clinching and holding on this sit, but the same people who criticize both fighter are the same ones justifying what Molina done.......was this what you were trying to get out this thread?

This is my problem with Molina's performance last night. He would hold on to Kirkland, that's it, do nothing. Just clinch for 10 seconds straight, push him off, throw one punch.

Man, Hopkins and Ward get in to exchanges in their clinches, they throw multiple punches, they actually fight inside. This guy was clinching not to fight inside, but just to hold on and spoil the fight itself, not to spoil Kirkland.
Kirkland has more firepower then Molina..... Molina would clinch but also pick his spots put his head in Kirklands chest and exchange..... Very similar to 2 more celebrated fighters......

great thread. I was posting a similar comment on another site: I said Molina does the exact thing Andre Ward does, and Ward is regarded as a top p4p fighter and Molina is regarded as a journeyman cause he doesnt have the olympic medal, the promotional backing and the record (robbed all the time) and the nationality. Molina wins against world class opponents the exact same way Ward and Hopkins win their fights.

I had a MUCH bigger issue with one of the judges that had Kirkland winning the fight. THAT pissed me off more than anything and I picked and rooted for Kirkland. Just terrible.

Hopkins-Holmes BTW was worse than this IMO.

Hopkins would do the same thing, throw a lead right, follow up with his head, clinch Holmes, pin Holmes arm to his body. Rinse, wash, and repeat for the whole fight.

Yet these fans are shittin on Molina. While defending Ward and Hopkins. If they don't think Ward or Hopkins are just as bad then they haven't seen most of their fights.
