Comments Thread For: Lederman: Mayweather Should Fight Martinez, at MSG

His detractors continue to accuse Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. of ducking and dodging Manny Pacquiao. In all fairness, a loud minority of fight fans blame Pacman for the Floyd-Manny fight not coming together.

Floyd does it at 160 for MW title, that'd be great. Can only hope it happens.

Imagine how it would look if Floyd fought Sergio while Manny ducked him.

Martinez should be the true #1 p4p hands down. You have pac and floyd who won't even fiight each other so those two should be 2 and 3 respectively. Martinez is the most feared fighter in the sport. I've given up on the Mayweather Pac fight already. If floyd has the balls, he would fight Serg at 154 or even at 160 (to chase that 6th division title in 6 diff classes that he doesn't have). He has no exuses because he will be fighting Cotto at 154. I think Mayweather Martinez is an intriguing matchup and will be the true super fight if you're a boxing fan. It wont be a mega fight because Martinez doesn't have a fanbase here in the states because hes not a crossover star. Him not knowing english is hurting is popularity so the casual fans dont know who he is. Could do 1.5+ ppv buys easily. Martinez only weighed 157.5 for Macklin fight, so he could make 154 easily. Floyd would definitely get respect if he takes the Martinez fight at 154 or higher. Hope this fight happens.

Perhaps Lederman doesn't know that Xylocaine isn't legal in New York State. And, byt the way, for those who accused Pacquiao for using s cut as an excuse not to fight on May 5th. Proksa just got a similiar cut last night and will be out of action for 5-6 months. Just about the same as Pacquiao, who is not allowed to spar until April.

If Floyd wants to one-up Pacquiao without ever fighting him (Or if he hopes to at least gain some real leverage in negotiating that fight with terms on his favor), then he should fight and defeat Sergio at 154.
