Like 90% of the fans I expected Macklin to come fwd face first and martinez to move to the sides and take him out with left counters inside 6 rds. Instead Macklin showed a good def. And fought very smart, making his shots count jabbing and landing clean right hands. Martinez was clearly frustrated and had to dig deep on this one... Great fight, hopefully he gets his shot at Chavez Jr. Next.

The knockdown, which shouldn't have counted IMO, is the only reason I had the fight close.

Had that not taken place I'd have had Sergio 3 or 4 points up before the 10-7 round and stoppage. It was a good fight and close for the first half, but Martinez was never on the verge os losing like some are making out.

Way to many comments about Macklin this and Macklin that. Macklin looked good, Macklin did this abd did that but Macklin lost game plan or not, HE LOST!
Your attention and credits should be with Martinez. Martinez should be getting tons of credit for KOing a guy who's never been KO'd. He should get credit for KOing the whole weight class unlike the other cheap shot artist in the lb per lb list. Martinez is and should be #1 right now all he does is kick ass. He fights and destroys!

im sorry but i didn't get a chance to see the fight, as it was saint patricks day and i was out drinking, from what i read, this sounds like a classic fight, is it a fight of the year candidate?

I liked how Martinez responded after the ref counted him for that k.o. I wonder if Chavez's camp was watching that fight?
