Martinez is 5'9; Margarito is 5'10. Why can't Pac fight Sergio?

I could see some argument if as soon as Martinez challenged him at 154 he started to back track and say 154 is too much, but Manny and Freddie were stating this in the middle of their training camp for Margarito. They even moved the catchweight down from 151-152 to 150lbs.

Still, I hope Manny takes this fight as I see him beating Martinez (who is good, but very overrated on these boards).
The bolded is all you needed to say.

I understand what you're saying. But, you said it yourself, Pacquaio can beat Martinez.

So why not make the fight happen?

love how pacquiao fans think hes some type of god for being 5'6 and beating a shot to **** Margarito just because of his size.

True, however when your dealing with idiots, like the TS, you have to remind them of the facts. It's not as if Manny just started to say this when Martinez called him out.....he has been saying this for years.

To answer your question......IMO I feel a Martinez fight is the type you make when your pretty much about to retire.

Now most people wont like this, but the truth is if he were to face Martinez he would not be the same fighter afterwards, due to the punishment he would take by facing such a big and fast fighter.

If Manny beats Bradley, then I either want the Mayweather fight to happen (which I doubt) or him to face another top fighter, then Martinez.....and call it quits afterwards.

Manny comes in 148lbs on fight night and Sergio comes in 165-168lbs. Manny takes a lot of punishment, and I would have to see him lose to a scrub in his next fight due to a Martinez fight.

This is why, IMO, this should be one of Manny's last fights.

I agree. That'd be fine by me.

After Bradley, try and get Mayweather or Martinez.

            They're the best fights available.

I would even go a step further and state they are the only fights available, as far as making any type of sense.

I don't want to see him against the Berto vs Ortiz winner. I don't want to see him face Alvarez and I also feel a fourth Marquez fight (which I feel will happen) is pointless as that fight will look the same as the first 3.

                OK according to ts theory.

Mike Tyson who was 5-10 and reach of 71 inches

                Martinez is 5-9 with 75

I guess Martinez could be very competitive with prime mike.

Again there is weight classes for a reason.

                  TS doesn't understand this.

I want Pac to fight Martinez. I've been saying that since mid '11.

What's Pac's excuse for not fighting Martinez? He says fighting bigger guys is too physically demanding and isn't gonna fight over 147 anymore. It's that simple.

I think it's a legitimate excuse albeit a weak one. I'm not the one pissing blood after fights like he did after the Margarito fight, but then again that's boxing. I don't think he really needs to fight Sergio who is a fully fledged middleweight to define his career. I think Pac needs to fight Mayweather before he fights anyone else this fall.

Martinez would be a good career capping win, but fighters like Pac and Mayweather only fight people they feel comfortable fighting. It's that damn simple.

Sergio poses no threat to any world-class boxer.

Floyd/Pac/JR would be happy to kick his ass but first he needs to develop a fanbase beyond his 15 internet fans.

Nobody in real life knows who the hell Sergio is.

Oh right, I know nothing about Boxing because I claim that Margarito isn't a good win for Pacquiao A fighter who hadn't won a legit fight in close to 2 years and hasn't since.

I must know nothing about Boxing if I don't acknowledge that was a good win solely because he's bigger and taller than him.

I've watched tapes? What? You don't have an idea what I have and haven't done.

Oh, so if that's the case then height matters, no?

So BoxingGenius has a point? Or doesn't he?
boxinggenuis' point? i've already said pacquiao could fight martinez, but it shouldn't be expected to be at 154

my point is floyd-baldomir can't be compared to pacquiao-margarito, the size(height/weight) disparity is much more

and plz try to calm down and read, i didn't say you didn't know about boxing, like i said, you've watched tapes(fights), i just doubt you have any real experience in the ring but that was really unnecesarry

you dont seem to be following that that height+weight > just weight

i'll say it AGAIN, im not suggesting the margarito win was a great win, im saying it was good, average, but it can't be "pathetic" as you had said when there is such a size disparity
