Martinez is 5'9; Margarito is 5'10. Why can't Pac fight Sergio?

Literally less than a week ago I was in thread and I said the Margarito win was garbage and I get the "Well he's much bigger so it's a good win" response so I respond with "Well, Baldomir is much bigger than Mayweather" and then I was conveniently responded to with "Oh but he's much taller aswell, it's about height" and things along those lines.

People were saying it's a good win in that very thread. Plently of people do. Merely by pointing to the fact he's bigger and dismissing the fact he was shot to pieces.

Baldomir does suck, I agree. I don't rate him, never have, never will.

He's still much bigger than Mayweather and if Pacquaio get's credit solely for Margarito being "bigger" then the same standar should apply for Mayweather?

He still outweighed him 13 Lbs. That's alot. He had a big size advantage.

I'd say Margarito at that point and Baldomir in 2006 were about as threatening as each other.

Factor in the height and reach, not as pronounced.

It's hard to tell where Marg was, I think in that shape he still goes through Judah and Gomez. As we saw, it's not like Mosley cracked his chin or confidence. Even with the eye handicap against Cotto, I thought he fought better than Baldo ever could.

I must know nothing about Boxing if I don't acknowledge that was a good win solely because he's bigger and taller than him.

Who remember's the Pacquiao-Margarito Face-Off episode where Margarito asks Roach something along the lines of "How do you know I can't beat Pacquiao?". Roach then responded with "I've seen your last two fights".

This tells me everything I need to know on why Team Pac will fight the bigger Margarito, but not smaller Martinez.

Martinez is 5'10" and Margarito is 5"11". Oscar is taller than Martinez and just as tall as Margarito, so that alone tells you that it's not the height, but the weight that is holding Manny back from going to 154.

Manny simply stated that 154 is too high for him, even before the Margarito fight was negotiated and way before anyone ever thought of Pacquiao vs Martinez.

Guy is consistent in his stance, so I really don't see the problem.

Also, Manny stated 147 was too much after the Oscar fight, so he went back down. He then tested the waters against Cotto, at a catch-weight, dominated and realized he could fight at WW.

Later, he tried to test the waters above 147 by facing Margarito at a catch-weight, but this time he didn't feel comfortable and realized WW was his ceiling.

I could see some argument if as soon as Martinez challenged him at 154 he started to back track and say 154 is too much, but Manny and Freddie were stating this in the middle of their training camp for Margarito. They even moved the catchweight down from 151-152 to 150lbs.

Still, I hope Manny takes this fight as I see him beating Martinez (who is good, but very overrated on these boards).

We all saw his last 2 fights. An we've seen his next 2 fights after that statment.

But wait wait, if you don't acknowledge that is a good win you must know nothing about Boxing because Margarito is not only heavier....but taller!
