  • If Floyd/Sergio ever got made, which i highly doubt (on Mays end).

Floyd outpoints Sergio, but will be earning his money that night. I only say this if Floyd is 100% on his game.

In the Ortiz fight Floyd was different defensively, not as sharp IMHO. If he fought Sergio like how he fought Victor- Floyd would get caught and have a matching pic with PWill.

yeah, ortiz caught him that one time in round 4 right. i think if martinez landed that shot, mayweather would've definitely clinched. only way, as i said before, for martinez to win is if he catches him and knocks him out. it's tough to imagine since mayweather is as about untouchable as a fighter can get now a days. i know his fanboys will laugh at the idea, but it could happen. that said, another thing is him declining due to age. but knowing that he trains very often, i doubt his reflexes and skills fade overnight. it'd have to be a year or two from now to see a serious change in him. maybe even longer, who knows.

Keep believing that. If most of you have watched all the fights that Floyd had against his southpaw opponents, then you should know that he doesn't know how to consistently neutralize the straight left hand. Hopkins and JMM knows how to rotate away from it and are better at limiting it, but Floyd is always in a position to get caught by it simply because he doesn't rotate to change the angle, he'd rather pressing forward to get his punches off first while standing flat-footed.

What would happen when he fight a fighter that can match him speed for speed, that has good footwork movement to prevent him from getting the angle openings he usual has to gets off first? He's arguably the current best technician in boxing, but he only know one way to neutralize the straight left hand and he's hardly consistent at it to say the least. I'm 100% confident he'd beat Manny, but Martinez on the other hand is different story when you add the size factor which would definitely be an X factor far different than the likes of, Oscar, Baldomir, Ortiz, ect.

Secondly because they'll just say he looked average against Macklin and Barker and was never any good.

          That's what people will say.
The problem is that the fight will not happen today and may only happen next year ...... so Martinez will probably be closing in on 38 or more than likely be 38 years old.

How good will Martinez be next year? Who knows really ....

The problem is Sergio has no fans. Floyd is not a charity. Floyd would basically be providing 100% of the fanbase, buzz, and revenue.

Floyd does not box to put Sergio's non-biological children through college.

            • Floyd needs to fight Sergio, before Sergio looks worse and worse. Sergio is a respected pro and floyd would get big credit for beating someone who is highly rated but maybe not as good as people claim he is.

Floyd should be able to tell himself how well he thinks he could do against sergio now, hes seen enough of him.

It's a legit fight IMO, but nothing to shout about.

I was laughing at the fact he was getting frustrated by Macklin's Boxing.

I didn't see him get frustrated. sergio fought like he always does. he runs around the ring and fights in spurts just like jean pascal. that style is effective for both of them. if sergio catches floyd with some of those lefts mayweathers gonna get knocked out.

It adds nothing to Floyd's legacy.

Only casual fans think Sergio is any good.

Floyd's ex would put up a better fight. How would beating up a bum like Sergio for 12 rounds add to Floyd's legacy?
