It's not called running when the other guy can't get in range without taking punishment. It's like the floyd thing. They can both spend half the time coming forward, but lord forbid they take a step back or circle around trying to find angles. Macklin was supposed to be the aggressor from what I recall, and he didn't really do anything to take it from the champ. Also, Martinez clearly did something right if he had Macklin systematically broken down and when it was time to close the show, he did it and went home like it was another day at the office.
How anybody didn't have Martinez dominating that fight is astounding. He's quick, but not quick enough so that you didn't see every single right he threw land...
Martinez was bored in this fight.
Also..there ARE lingering questions as to someone's post up above. Alexander lost to Math...Berto already had massive questions about him after the Collazo fight and him being knocked down by Quintana. Martinez under normal circumstances wouldn't be in the top 3 p4p, but by default and nobody being anymore impressive in their weight class, he gets the nod.
Haters gunna hate though. Martinez could literally go up to heavyweight (as could Floyd), knock out Vitali and Wladimir and some random fan would say "Well the HW division was weak, they need to fight someone legit" or something similar. Give the guy his props and if his spot is undeserved, it will eventually be exposed. Boxing is funny that way.
