I genuinely believe Floyd retired because he had accomplished what he wanted

It had nothing to do with Margarito and Cotto. He wasn't ducking them at all.

Floyd had a hit list, moving up: Gatti, Tsyzu, De La Hoya and Mosley.

BoxingScene: Are you still interested in fighting Shane Mosley and Zab Judah?

Mayweather: Shane Mosley don't want to fight me, he had chances and he ran from me like the rest of these champions. I'll fight Shane Mosley anytime and make it easy work. A guy like Mosley is easy work for me. Zab is a close friend, I'm not looking to fight Zab, but if they can put enough dollars on the table then we can make it happen.

BoxingScene: What is your goal after the Gatti fight?

Mayweather: I want either Tszyu or De La Hoya. I'll fight anybody out there that makes sense, but Tszyu and De La Hoya are the fights I want. I've been calling them out before I even came to 140, De La Hoya is coming down to 147 and I'll willing go to 147 to make it happen. Tszyu got a big fight with Hatton, Tszyu will beat Hatton and we should fight to settle who the best fighter is at 140 pounds.

    ------

    Gatti

He beat Gatti like he was supposed to.

    Mosley

The Mosley fight didn't happen because Shane said he had a toothache. Jump to 2:20 -

Now onto the final two.... De La Hoya and Tsyzu

Mayweather, had been chasing Tsyzu and De La Hoya since 130lb. Reason I believe he wanted them bad is because they beat his idols, R. Mayweather and Whittaker respectively. It's after Hatton beat Tsyzu that we first heard talks of Mayweather retiring, and then those talks became more prominent as the De La Hoya fight approached. De La Hoya the final goal on Floyd's list of things to do. I think at this point Floyd could have walked.

What made the Hatton point more lucrative than any other out there? Was because it was easy to make, financially worthwhile and also Hatton had beaten someone Floyd was after for a very long time - Tsyzu.

After beating Hatton, I guess there was nothing else out there. Then Floyd came out with the famous phrase "I'm gonna retire from boxing, boxing's not gonna retire me" which to a casual may come across as sounding like he's running away from the sport. But if you look at it from an unbiased point of view, Floyd genuinely had accomplished all he had wanted - he'd picked apart his hit list. Apart from getting at Mosley, who ducked him. Arum was also in the way of other things.

I actually am not annoyed at Floyd for retiring. Although, it would have been good if he didn't, but I respect his reasons for doing so especially when I look at the goals he set himself from 130lb and how he achieved them all.

I completely agree it was a strategic move. He conveniently retired at a time the welterweight division was at it's best. He let Mosley, Pacquiao, Margarito, and Cotto beat the hell out of each other and returned to fight the leftovers, after they were past there best .

He left at a time the public was demanding him fight these guys at there best. Every move Floyd makes is calculated and strategic! Just like fighting Cotto now when he is clearly past his best.

In all honesty, no matter who Floyd beat, there was always going to be someone for Floyd to fight.

I think he felt discouraged by that. I think he felt like he was in scenes from Lord of The Rings 1, 2 and 3.

Floyd's position is different than that of the K2 bros. Meaning, no matter who Floyd beats in his division, there will always be fighters moving up to challenge him or moving down to challenge him. Even when he wacks all those guys, he will then be asked to move up and challenge someone else. Whereas the K2 bros only have to worry about 1 maybe 2 divisions.

Even if Floyd did beat Marg and Cotto, there would have been someone else. There always will be until he loses and/or retires.

When you're an undefeated fighter and posses the aura Floyd presents, it comes with the territory.

Who?.. All Top Rank fighters? Arum never wanted to make Mayweather - Cotto at any point which is why Miraculously the fight happens when he leaves Arum? Margarito was only hyped up by Bob Arum. Who did he beat? The Miguel Cotto fight is tainted. He lost to P Will in 2007. Mayweather was never going to fight Paul Williams, not because he is afraid but because Al Haymon fighters don't fight each other.

Why would Mayweather leave Top Rank (because Arum is shady & shrewd business man) to be the cash cow and turn around to fight his fighters and do business with him?

Who else was in the WW division at the time Mayweather retired?

This is true... I just think maybe he felt overwhelmed. No excuse, I'm just trying to put myself in his position.

                  Yup!

Kinda funny he shows up after most of them beat the crap out of each other.
