Why Do People Say Cotto was Beat Down by Marg?

A beatdown is usually one sided. The fight was even pretty much until Cotto wilted and went down- then lost in the next round.
A beatdown is Delahoya/Gatti or Margarito/Mosley.

Not necessarily.
I think Linares got beatdown and he was winning the fight.

He got beaten down to the point that he quit not to take no more punishment.
Look at his face after the fight and you tell me that wasn't a beat down

He was beaten into submission. Not sure how that doesn't equate into a beatdown.

Well I guess we disagree on definitions. I haven't read anything on DeMarco beating Linares down.

Do you mean "beatdown" as in the fighter has to be knocked down?
Or do you mean handing out a straight up ass whooping?
Cause to me, a beatdown means handing out a straight ass whooping; you don't have to be actually knocked down to get your ass whooped.

No I mean a straight up ass kicking. Margarito didn't do that. He outlasted Cotto.
Trinidad beat down Mamadou Thiam.
