I disagree when people say Cotto "got dominated" by Margarito cause that connotates a one sided fight.
Right, Cotto was beatdown but definitely not dominated.

He got beatdown to the point the fight ended without a punch being thrown. Cotto took a knee with Marg just coming forward. He took his soul and lost something in the ring after that fight. It wasn't domination. It wasn't a one sided fight. But it was a beatdown.

I actually agree with you in saying 'beatdown' is sort of a primitive term but its definition cannot be mistaken. Controversy aside, Cotto submit. Margarito outlasted Cotto for sure and when he got tired he got beatdown.

Cotto took a beating from rounds 7 to 11. He was still landing, but clearly the punches were having an effect on him ()

I disagree with the term "beatdown" but then again, there is no specific word to describe what happened that night.

But doesn't really matter.what Cotto did in the rematch is call Toying and dominating a fighter.

Outclassed is what Mayweather does a beatdown is what Cotto got. Hitting someone until they have got no will to fight and want to go home is a beatdown.
