Why is Tyson Fury Ranked 5th Heavyweight on Box Rec?

Just curious cause i didn't think he had fought any notable opponents yet except an out of shape derek chisora and also he has only had 17 fights? Shouldn't guys like Arreola etc be ahead of him when they have had about 20 fights extra and won most of them?

it seems BOXrec just moves the next possible opponents for the top guys. boxingrec is really inaccurate & should not be taken seriously...their ranking system is not to effective..

id have to check. he probably in top 20 in all i'd say...he does have a win over chisora, pajkic & firtha. pajkic & firtha are solid C+ fighters & chisora should have got the nod over helenius & gave vitali is toughest fight since he came out of retirement. the win over chisora counts for lots in my opinion. i use to think chisora was nothing & i thought the fury fight exposed him. i was dead wrong! a motivated chisora is one tough & aggressive SOB! he walked through helenius & vitalis punches & he is the first guy i ever saw have helenius retreating & he pushed vitali around all night. it's too bad he is suspended.i say screw britain & move to the states. he would be popular there.

Yeah I guess a win over Chisora really counts for alot but in that case surely Helenius should be rated above Fury as he also won ( yes i know he didn't but he still won on paper so it counts as ranking points)

Boxrec ranks fighters with some points system that really end up not making much sense.

They have most of the #1 fighters correct but for example look at 135...Robert Guerrero as #1, on top of Rios, DeMarco, Vazquez, Burns. And look at Gamboa at #4 yet he doesn't even have one fight at 135.

Makes no sense, Guerrero hasn't even fought in a year.

Boxrec is a good source to see who officially won a certain fight, and to check out fighters records. Like Cuenca's 42-0 with 1 KO.

The HW rankings for all the orgs are crazy the WBA has Rahman#1. In a pool with nothing but shite its so hard to find a good piece. Chisora is strong but a bit nutty and Mormeck broke up as soon as he hit the water.

each organization has regional belts which will give a guy a higher ranking in their respective organization. monte barrett for example. he is only ranked in the top 15 in the WBO & no other organization because he owns 2 WBO regional titles he won of tua. if he loses to shane cameron then he will drop out of rankings & cameron will move into the top 15 in the WBO...

Yeah good point, Its so hard to figure out the real top 10 without having to try and find and watch every single fighter thats in the top 20 of all organisations which is obviously not a practical thing to do.
