Anyone who talks down on that fight is a fool and Roger would agree they don't know **** about boxing.

A year and a half or so ago Pac-May would've done 3 million...now it will be lucky to break 2 million...they ****ed around for so long that everyone has realized Pacquiao could never beat Mayweather.
Not everyone wanted to see it. They did a hell of a job promoting though. 24/7 a promotional monster debut.

Oscar was the man at 154 in what sense? Not in boxing sense. Not in being the best in the division sense, not in facing the top dawg sense. What are you talking about, he was the man in terms of money? Then yea.

That fight wasn't all that. The only good thing that came out of that fight was that it made Floyd a star. After that it did more than good. And, in terms of legacy anyone who tries to big up that fight is a damn fool. That fight was on the level of what Floyd-Cotto is now. Maybe just a notch above. Which proves how pathetic Floyd-Cotto is now.

The proof was following boxing at the time and hearing/reading it being reported....

Great promotion, plain and simple. I've covered many big fight press tours, this one still sticks out as the best. It kicked off at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, I was in awe.

Anything with Oscar would always sell big, but they matched him with the best fighter in the world right after Oscar had KO'ed Mayorga in spectacular fashion.

HBO created 24/7 just for this fight.

Around 30,000 Brits were there and the ticket allocation for British fans was something ridiculous, like less than 4,000

There were alot of factors that made it huge, but one SMALL factor I don't think anyone ever considers are streaming sites. Back then we didn't have the broadband, easily accessible hardware nor the community to supply these sites.

How much do you guys think it actually takes away from today's big ppv's?

It was over the news at the time of the fight. England football team has took tens of thousands of fans round the world numerous times.

I remember reading something about how they included theater tickets sold to watch the fight as ppv buys, among other things.
