Does anyone have this Gus Johnson photo?

So there's this article in badlefthook lambasting Gus Johnson's awful performance during the Salido-Lopez II fight, with most posters just agreeing with it.

    Then someone narrates this story:

"Still, the enthusiasm might be misplaced or feel artificial to viewers, but i remember a press photo of salido-lopez I from right after the ref stopped the fight, and salido’s running to celebrate, and in the background you can see all the press people still seated, including the showtime crew, except gus is standing, screaming, with his hands on his head as if he just won the lottery or something—just hysterical, near-tears glee. i mean, there weren’t any showtime cameras on him or anything; he wasn’t mugging for viewers. dude was seriously that excited."

the mental image alone is already hilarious. though i do now feel guilty for mocking his commentary during the fight. he's probably just a casual, easily excitable boxing fan who's handed a mic for showtime's boxing shows since he calls other sports pretty decently.

What was so bad about his commentary?

I haven't seen the Showtime coverage.

I love Gus. He brings excitement. Also he is never bias which I also like about him. He doesn't root for anyone unlike HBO's team who plays favourites.

nothing wrong with it in my opinion. he's not the most knowledgable boxing guy on the planet but thats certainly not getting in the way of a decent job done in my opinion.

i'm convinced at this stage that the guy just loves his job. nothing wrong with that. he gets excited

I don't see anything wrong with Gus's commentary, I mean he doesn't have a Jim Lampley voice, or a Max Kellermen style insight box, but he's the standard announcer who calls the action appropriately I think.

I'm not sure how I feel about him. He's incredibly, off-puttingly bad in terms of his bias for American fighters - but as part of a brilliant Showtime coverage, I think he's OK - and I actually appreciate his enthusiasm, compared to Lampley going through the motion these days.

Thank you for making my day, kind sir; I don't really use the karma function of this site too much, is clicking on Karma and saying "I approve" enough?

The article is in here: http://*******.com/7dfy4qg

and I'm surprised with the support for Gus in here; many boxing writers like Eric Raskin and Tim Starks occasionally make fun of his commentary, and I come across threads bashing him (just like in that thread above) quite frequently.

I think he's a pretty exciting commentator, too, but he can be quite distracting when he inserts terribly unnecessary drama into fights (as is Lampley) and when he gets excited because! he! pauses! at! all! the! wrong! times! LOL

This story and that pic changed how I look at him. The dude is just too excitable and enthusiastic (like us here) for all those dramatics to be just stuff his boss tells him he must do.
