That's not exactly a bold prediction though, Rios is massive compared to Gamboa. I don't think anyone would have really considered this fight before it was made.

Gamboa is still open to getting hit, and against a much bigger guy with a good punch he'll run into trouble. Throw a good chin in there and it seems like he's pretty screwed, Rios fits the bill, but I'm sure a lot of people do when the guys jumping two damn weight classes...

I really don't notice a difference between the 3 (Angulo, Rios, Older Margarito).

Regarding the comparison to Rios's punches to Maidana's. Yes, there's a difference in that aspect. Rios's punches are straighter and more precise. Maidana's punches are looping and wider. Yes, I agree with that.

But when it comes to defense and pressure, not so much.
Its not only that he keeps both his hands up, he'll also change angels in close and turn with the punches. Angulo and Margarito, especially Margarito can get hit by the most telegraphed punches, they eat big punches consistently.

I still think Gamboa wins this fight if it ever goes down. I take ability to beat size.

Guy's who walk onto punches and don't have a lot of speed aren't guy's that will give Gamboa trouble IMO. I think i would be a good fight for sure and very entertaining, but Gamboa isn't a guy that stands in front of you or a guy that tires, I'd be confident in him winning a wide decision.

Hmmm I don't recall off the top of my head, but I'll go back and watch some of Rios's fights for confirmation.

Gamboa should win a wide UD here, rios is too slow and will not be able to catch Gamboa, on top of that while rios is practically a ww fight night, Gamboa started at 130 and was fast and powerful he will be the smallest fighter that night but he will carried speed, power, better boxer all around and alot of experience dealing with different styles, Acosta gave rios a whooping until the KO, Gamboa is Acosta three times over and I had never see him tired, and that is why he was the favorite when the odds came out.

There's a thread about Arum "moving ahead with Rios-Richard Abril, with or without HBO." An official announcement hasn't been made, but it looks like Gamboa-Rios is toast.
