Rios is the fighter I've always picked to beat Gamboa

Even before the fight was announced, I always though Rios would beat Gamboa.

Gamboa is skilled, fast and powerful, but I've seen so many *****s in him. When people don't react to his power, he doesn't know what to do, and I've seen gamboa slightly pressured, and he doesn't react well to it all.

Rios will walk through every single punch of his and keep bringing that pressure.

Plus Rios is just too big for him.. I would bet all my points on Rios over Gamboa any day. I've always wondered wth Gamboa was thinking in taking such a dangerous fight, so i'm a little su****ious that he doesn't want the fight.

That's all you needed to say right there.

I feel that's the only reason Rios beats Gamboa.

I still think Rios beats him without the size advantage. I see a Margarito/Cotto or Acosta/Rios Repeat.

I've never seen Gamboa tested, but I have seen him pushed. And when he's pushed he doesnt react well. Rios will push him hard.

There's no way you really thought, before the fight was announced of course, that they would ever fight. Rios was fighting at 135 and struggling to make weight, and Gamboa was at 126. The only way Rios beats Gamboa is just because he's bigger. Rios is like a f**king Super Welterweight on fight night, and Gamboa is a Lightweight on fight night.

As soon as he sees his opponent is unwilling to play into his game he resorts to hitting behind the head, alot of rabbit punching or punching after the break, simply to make them come at him...I don't have a problem with it but it makes his flaws more noticeable. I'm still not impressed with him, I see speed, power, great athleticism, good counter punching but I've seen that in plenty of fighters. I want to know how well he can box, not that posing he does, or how well he can fight on the inside. He's still extremely dangerous for anyone but a fighter like Broner, who's progressed alot would definitely test him.

You don't see a significant size difference between those two?

Margarito didn't beat Cotto the first time with his "skills" lol It was a little bit of plaster and a little bit of sheer force that got Marg the victory. The same applies with Rios against Acosta.

I didn't see some skillful tactician (Rios) in work. Basically, in all of his fights, I see Rios winning by brute force, not skills.

I saw Gamboa fight Ponce de Leon and thought who would be the best fighter than can pressure Gamboa.. and Rios came to mind because he had just fought Acosta and Gamboa said he was moving up in weight and eventually wanted to fight at 147.

I think Broner beats Gamboa, just my thoughts. Broner has a huge size and reach advantage, and is very quick as well. He doesn't jump around or use quite as much movement as Gamboa, but Broner has tremendous timing. And if he times Gamboa right and catches him, he'd definitely be able to floor Gamboa. Broner-Gamboa is probably the next super fight, but it'll never happen if Gamboa is with Top Rank of course.

It takes a very special talent to be able to deal with the weight/ size disadvantage Gamboa would have been in against Rios, look at the height and reach advantage too. Only way Gamboa was ever in that fight was if Rios came in weight drained. That isn't an insult to Gamboa either, Rios is underrated as a pressure fighter, his technical skills, jab, defense considering his style isn't appreciated much on here. He's also been killing himself to make weight so I'm excited to see how strong he'll be at 140.
