He is 28 years old and over 30 fights into his career, he is not just going to become a new man and a totally different fighter.

A new corner and working on some defensive skills could really help him out though.

Would love to see him batter that paper champ Billy Dib

Watch them match up with Dib so he can get a belt.

Personally, (if I were the one to do so) I would advise JuanMa Lopez to retire. He's the type of fighter who should be saved from himself. I saw him try to use some type of defense last weekend. He tried to use the philly shell but he didn't use it well enough. He didn't look like the same fighter who was in Vegas putting a spanking on RaFa Marquez. These 2 fights have taken something out of him. In this last fight, I saw that the loss took something out of him. He should retire and save himself or his team should look out for his well being because he's going to get seriously damaged. He's showing signs of dementia already. Save that guy before it gets really bad.

He tried a "new style" against Salido (boxing and moving on the outside) in both of the fights, but he dldn't fight well enough in either fight to win against Salido. Instead of getting him to adjust to a new style that he might never adjust to, he should be taught defensive tactics to disguise his defensive flaws (flaws that he's had for 20+ fights before, but had only been exploited by 2 opponents (Mtagwa)).

Moving up to 130 might be good for his mental state, but a win over a rival (Vazquez Jr.) can do in one fight (because of the rivalry and Vazquez' insults) what 3-4 fights against journeymen can do in terms of confidence. Leaving 126 and Salido might be a good option after a Vazquez win, but I rather try to get him a Chris John fight (I still think he'd have a decent shot at winning against him) and then move him to 130.

He needs to move up, he is burning himself making 126, hell 130 might burn him too.

Thats why he starts strong and after 6 rounds he is done! Making weight takes a huge toll on him!!

He needs to move up ASAP

Could you imagine Rocky Martinez vs Juanma!!!

I'd like Juanma to retire immediately because he's a disgrace to the legacy of Puerto Rican boxing. He's a fraud like no other..

Terrible footwork, terrible chin, terrible attitude and terrible everything else. His record is filled with a bunch of stiffs that made him "look" like something he never was. Before embarrassing his family, friends, and country and further he should consider a different career path. Maybe becoming a clown in a circus would be a better fit for him.
Wow...this post is dripping with hate for JuanMa! lol

Lopez's career was built the way most promising young fighters' careers are built. I don't think he should be faulted for it. A lot of people never liked his attitude. I can understand that. His latest post-fight interview didn't help. And maybe JuanMa's footwork isn't anything special...it didn't have to be before. But "terrible chin"? I don't agree with that. Lopez has a pretty good chin. It's just that his style and defense allow him to get hit too often and too hard. JuanMa was getting hit with everything but the kitchen sink in the rematch with Salido. Everyone has their breaking point; if you get hit often enough, you'll crack.

Lopez still has heart and power. I don't think JuanMa can be favored against the top guys anymore, but he can still provide some thrills. Besides, what's he gonna do? Go train fighters? Something tells me he won't be very good at that....

I don't care who this overated sorry a$$ bum fights next. He is only on TV because he is Tito's boy toy this isn't implying they are gay, just juanma)and he fills up arenas in any part of the world with a high concentration of PR fans who support their own real strong.

I hope whoever he fights next beats the **** out of him and finishses the job Salido started so I nevr have to see him fight again. Better yet lets do salido juanma 3 so salido can finally put this piece of **** to rest permanently and he can follow tito around and wash his a$$ after he craps.

if you have terrible defense but a good chin will make up for it,juanma has neither,i don't agree that his chin is good,a guy with a good chin doesn't get dropped buy a guy like concepcion who is not a big puncher,or wobbled by marquez who's best weight and true power was at 118 and avg power at 122 but not anymore at 126,juanma also got hurt by matagwa,a fighter with a good chin doesn't wobble at begginning of fight, yeah maybe as fight goes on i can understand the accumulation of punches but here juanma gets hurt with punches from salido from the beggining and remember salido isn't really a devastating puncher not a ko artist but i would say above avg power,a guy with a good chin doesn't go down from a punch by bernabe concepcion or wobble by a right hand from an avg puncher at beggining of fight, that is juanmas problem and for people saying he should move up to 130 that would be suicide, broner is there and would ko him easily, but then again the wbo will probably do him a favor by suspending him and therefore avoid fighting broner,to me weight has nothing to do with juanma losing,it's a combination of his chin, poor defesne and boxing skills,he has none of those three

All he needs is a new trainer. Forget about chaging the way he fights. If he doesnt train as he fight, he must better retire. I am Puertorican but he seems that he is not training as a fighter suposed to.
