It's a pity the United States never really got the story of Benn Eubank. That was very very interesting.

It was like the working class hero, the honest simple fighter who just wanted to go at it in Benn against the FAKE nobility. Eubank grew up every bit as rough and poor as Benn, but he went true Uncle Tom UK style. And they hated each other. They had more action in 1 round then the heavyweight division had in the last 3 years.

          Love Lennox Lewis.

The fight against Michael Grant was just plain mean.

That guy has one of the best right hands I've ever seen.

It has to be Ted "Kid" Lewis, beat Jack Britton for world welterweight title, and fought him 20 times. He was named by a huge poll of boxing analysts, trainers, fighters and managers as the best British fighter of the 20th century. That's a hundred years of boxing in the country where it all began. He fought from flyweight (won British featherweight title aged 19 European title aged 20) all the way up to heavyweight. and won titles at some of them even when really never more than a weltereight. He would fight anybody He fought Georges Carpentier for the lt.-heavy world title when outweighed by about 25 lbs. He even fought for a Heavyweight title.

Since he's long gone he can be called a genuine legend, not the same as someone like Hatton or Lewis who are alive and well, and were boxing only a very few years ago. The term "legend" is very badly misused, and we should be more careful in our phraseology.

He knocked Grant down, and shortly after, out by means of a bad foul. He should have been DQ'd. His favourite trick of pulling his opponent's head down and uppercutting at the same time, very blatant and was doing it all the time.

Doesn't mean he wouldn't have beaten Grant fairly, but the fact is that he he didn't. Look at the video. Sportsman............??

Benn, Eubank, Hamed, Bruno, Cooper and Lewis are all my favourites.

If I had to pick...I'd say Nigel Benn (Very Hard to choose though). Nigel feared nobody...rare for the majority of British boxers.

Nigel Benn would kick your ass until shit came out of your ears.

EDIT - Sorry, didn't read the poll properly LOL!

Greatest British fighter of all time is Lennox Lewis IMO. Nigel is a public favourite though.

Why is there no John Conteh? Ken Buchanan?
                      Bob Fitzsimmons?

What about The Leamington licker, Randolph Turpin? He beat a prime Sugar ray & gave him hell in the rematch! Also beat the likes of Humez
