Cotto wasnt ranked #1 EVER at 147lbs....and I know he had 1 fight at 135lbs...david diaz....

which takes me back to my original point..he didn't fight the #1 guy in either division. JMM actually beat the top guys @135 at that time.

Let's say GBP has some influence on The Ring because they own it...Goldenboy is so bias, they have an undeserving Pacquiao at #1, who's also a Top Rank fighter, GBP's rival promotional company. They have another Top Rank fighter at #4 Nonito Donaire. Another Top Rank fighter at #8 Timothy Bradley. And a newly added Top Rank fighter at #10 Yuriorkis Gamboa.

      The rest...Floyd at #2. Martinez[DiBella] #3. Ward[Shaw] #5, Marquez[free agent/Top Rank?]#6, the Klitshcko's at 7 and 9.

Would you look at that, NO Golden Boy Promotions fighters in their P4P list. How bias can they get.

Not true, he was ahead in 2 of the judges scorecards going into the 12. And, even if all the judges would have given Mayorga the 12 10-9(if the knockdowns didn't happen) at worse it would have been a draw. So no, Mosley was not on his way to losing that fight.

Plus Mosley has always looked like crap at 154.

MANILA, Philippines – Shane Mosley is willing to stake his WBA welterweight crown if he gets to face Manny Pacquiao even at a catch weight of 144 lb.

“I’ll meet him halfway so we can make the fight,” said Mosley in an exclusive interview aired by NBN-4 sports program Teledyaryo yesterday.

Mosley, the champion at 147 lb, said he’s willing to go down in weight, face Pacquiao on Oct. 17, and stake his crown just to see “who’s the best.”

Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, said they’re willing to face Mosley if the latter would agree to go down to 142 lb. Then Mosley said “halfway” could mean 144 lb.

“I can possibly make the weight and feel comfortable. I want to explore that,” said Mosley.
        1. You could have found a better link than Phillippine article.

        2. It has nothing to do with my post or my point overall.

        3. I was ecstatic that he didn't fight Mosley at 144. What garbage that would have been. That was much much worse than fighting Cotto at 145. Hell it was better to fight Mosley at 147 last year than fighting Mosley at 144 in 09' IMO. But, I might be in the minority in that line of thinking.

However, all this is still opinions not facts. You said "FACT" that only fact is that your fact is an opinion. You can get 10 different rankings from 10 different sources, all will be different because of a difference of an opinion. Because, rankings are not facts either.

I remember not too long ago Dan Rafael didn't have Anselmo Moreno in the top 5 at 118. When arguably Moreno was and has been the best bantamweight IMO. So this is like saying it is a fact that Moreno isn't best at 118(going by Dan/ESPN rankings)

The Ring has Vanes Martirosyan rank #3 at 154. Using your logic it is a fact Vanes is top 3 at 154. Do you believe that? They have Cotto rank #1 why? Because, he was able to beat 2 shot to pieces fighter who weren't rank by any source. And, a one legged feather fisted fighter? If Floyd was to beat him are you going to make the argument that Floyd beat the best JMW out there? That's fine if you do but just know that is an opinion not a fact.

But, yea divisional ranking>>>P4P ranking. At least there is, should be a body of work in divisional ranking. While P4P is just make believe.
ok i can agree with this post......

I took that to mean the way he literally fought him, not enough care taken defensively.

Phillipine article or not that was on numerous major boxing websites...that just happened to be one of the top searches. No need to find the same article on a different site...they all posted the same thing.

anyways...."Shane came to the gym twice to ask me to let him fight Manny," Roach says. "I told him no both times, and both times for the same two reasons: First, there isn't enough money there, and second, you're too good a fighter."---Freddie Roach

Jmm was the best at 130 though and apart from Mayweather Cottto was the next best(I dont count the Marg win against Cotto after the loaded gloves incident). I dont always go by rankings Mayweather is '#2 But i think he is teh best so.........
