I certainly am surprised that a modern day person's reputation can be damaged by being called a gambler. Today is not as it was 100 years ago. Are you slow? The insinuation was that the ref had money on the fight and therefore took his best opportunity to stop it and made that happen. Even though the referees were clearly paid off, Salido still came to fight and JuanMa didn't. Plain and simple. Boom, period.

I'm not sure if you speak Spanish or not, but if you don't, you should know that there were some words said by Juan that were lost in translation and were not said by the translator. Juan not only said that Ramirez Sr. was a gambler, but that he and his son actually bet on the outcome of this and the previous fight. If you really think about it, this means that Juan is accusing Ramirez of making money from the stoppage. That's a pretty serious accusation IMO.

Yeah I 100% agree bro, that was the worst thing he could've said. That was straight up chicken **** for him to say that about him after he just got knocked out. During the replay he acts as if he was really good to go, also. Which made him look even more like a jacka$$.

Yo man. Reading some of you guys comments on this subject just shows that some of you don't have no integrity whatsoever. Lopez called Ramirez a gambler insinuating that he stopped Lopez because he bet on the fight. That is a damaging thing to a referee's reputation AND it was on Showtime in front of millions of people. The referee saved him from taking a worst beat down and Lopez has the nerve to say he stopped the fight because he possibly made a bet because he is a gambler? That would mean that Lopez is saying he bet on the fight. That's damaging on all levels and what Ramirez is asking for is very reasonable. It's about honor and respect,the two things Juan Manuel Lopez lacked after such a great and memorable fight.

It's not the gambilng that is the issue it is the context in which the accusation was made. It is not so much that Juanma accused him of being a gambler as it is that he accused him of fixing the fight to his favor.

Maybe the ref is a gambler--that doesn't mean that he fixed the outcome of the fight. That was a very good stoppage. These are two independant variables that Juanma, in a moment of denial, used to put the onus on another person.

juanma is a gutless sore loser who used his failing marriage as an excuse for the first loss & now he is claiming the ref bet on the outcome of the fight so he stopped it early. maybe instead of working on excuses for every fight that doesn't go his way, he should work on his defence because his chin is weaker then those excuses...what a clown & an embarrassment. he should take a lesson from his fellow countryman fres oquendo. if there is a guy who ever got a raw deal in a fight it's him & he always handled it pretty well.
