Showtimes' overall coverage rips HBO to shreds, to the point that when I found out who's covering a fight, it can add/reduce probably 15% of my excitement depending on which network it is - but sorry, Jim ain't on Larry's level.
It's noticeable how much flack Larry gets since the ruck with Mayweather. Which again makes me ponder one of those things I have never understood - how someone like Floyd who basically holds the fans in contempt holds so much sway over his own fans.
Anyway, I do like Jim cos he's so cringeworthy and lacking in self-awareness of this fact, that it actually cracks me up.
I agree with that. Jim Grey is so bad that it is actually laughable sure. Larry Merchant is just leagues better. But, you probably said that cuz' you don't have Showtime
Wow, what a ****** and naive remark. Lets say you're right and I know don't for argument sake. It is not hard to find a Showtime stream on the internet and still see Jim Grey do his whack ass interviews.
Think before you reply please. Thank you and have a good day.
Touchy aren't we?? Your butthurt says a lot, I won't ask you anything again. Since you're gonna act like biatch.

Merchant is a legend.
This is true as well. Except for Gus Johnson, I think he is terrible. But, Tarver, Farhood, Bernstein are damn good commentators and overall IMO are better than HBO. But, when Gus gets called for duty I take HBO all day.

Showtimes entire boxing coverage is boss. Plus they added the undercard fights on sho-extreme. That is just slammin. To the casual fan, hbo protecting superstars & mismatches might be the way to go. However seasoned fans like you & I gotta have that showtime baby!!
You should ask serious questions not ******s. Shouldn't assume anything. Because, of course you know what happens.
I didn't assume anything. I really wanted to know. You'd be surprised how many people pick hbo over showtime by default because they have hbo & not showtime. I for 1 have them both, but I look forward to all things showtime cause the quality of fights & comentating is soo much better to me.

Showtime commentating is much better overall, except for Merchant vs Grey. But, this year the quality fights are not better. It has been in the past. But, not this year. Showtime is slacking big time. Maybe they're saving money for the rest of the year. But, they're overpaying for fights. And, showcasing a lot of mismatches and unwarranted fights.
In terms of asking questions quickly and precisely, Jim Grey is the man but in terms of being a boxing curmudgeon, Larry all day. I still remember when Jim Grey was doing NBA games with NBC.
Whenever I think of Jim Grey I always think of Tyson angrily asking him, "Mmmmaaannnnn, WHUT?!"
